The government is hypocritical about everything. That's why it's good to have as little of it as possible.

So you're okay with psychopath dictators having nukes? Nuclear weapons are a huge responsibility and not every country deserves to have them.

Finally someone agrees with me. I'm as left wing as it gets. But I would rather put nukes in the hands of the US than to some genocidal or theocratic regime. It's not hypocritical for the US to stop others from building nukes if the other country is headed by nutjobs.

Our country's leadership has its own share of nutjobs, but at least they're cushy nutjobs who don't want to risk a nuclear war. Last time I checked we weren't declaring any holy wars. Still, imperialism never has and never will suit the American people. Too bad it suits some of our leaders.

That is an excellent point.

The US is not the only country telling others not to have nukes. There are many organizations and countries that attempt to limit nukes.

Though like thelistman said, the US is not hypocritical if it stops countries headed by nutjobs from making nukes. The US can't trust them if they had nukes, especially in spite of events in the recent years.

The US was building nukes. The last American nuclear test conducted was over a decade ago. It and Russia are cutting down on warheads.

If you can't spell hypocrite and American correctly, I have no reason to support you.

Well, it hasn't suited us in the last 50 years at least =P

U.S.A themselves are building enought to destroy the world 3 times

I'm not sure where you're getting this. The US has been one of the major proponents of nuclear disarmament over the last 20 years. I mean just recently the Obama administration has been working with the Russians to reduce the number of warheads and delivery vehicles.

Well.. not 'building' really, - they've already built them, and in recent decades they've put a little effort into disarming some of the gigantic cache of nuclear armament they have at their disposal with the START accord. Granted, all of the warheads still get dumped into storage, but at least they're not a part of a missle that could potentially be launched at the word 'go'.

I don't think it's hypocritcal for any stable nation to be not in favour of a country that is politically unstable to possess nukes.

It's the governments' job to be hypocrite's. It's what they do.

And I'll have you know we don't produce them anymore. Anti-proliferation treaties and such whatnot. We do however have 30,000 of them. At least we're actually destroying them.

While I may be for nukes I don't think 30,000 is exactly an intelligent amount to have. For anyone >>.>>

30,000?

All the statistics I see put that number to be several thousand.

Hehe, mostly small ones. Only about 5-10,000 strategic ones. Still enough to wipe out the planet.

Russia has/had about 18,000.

Well, I do believe they're being somewhat hypocritical, but you can't blame em. I mean, nobody wants another country to have nukes, right? But the U.S. couldn't stop Canada, China, Russia, etc. because they're too powerful to be fighting against. However, when Iraq starts building nukes, the U.S. knows they can stop them, so they do. And they need some lame reason to sell it to the people so they won't protest and they will sign up for the war. Simple as that.
