Pop just means popular. Are you claiming that all rock music is unpopular?
Not exactly.
Pop music is a music genre that developed from the mid-1950s as a softer alternative to rock 'n' roll and later to rock music. It has a focus on commercial recording, often orientated towards a youth market, usually through the medium of relatively short and simple love songs. While these basic elements of the genre have remained fairly constant, pop music has absorbed influences from most other forms of popular music, particularly borrowing from the development of rock music, and utilizing key technological innovations to produce new variations on existing themes.
I'm more of a rock guy, although occasionally I'll listen to a pop song. They're just a lot catchier and upbeat than most rock songs, so it's good one in awhile.
pop by far but not hannah montana and bo bros like hylian726 says. i like more of the dance kind and people like beyonce and demi lovato and selena gomez.
I like both genres,but pop has gone kiddish in the last few years,and rock has gone too hard and emo,so its hard to choose. I'm going with rock,because there are still awesome bands out there (ex.Foo Fighters,Red Hot Chili Peppers,The Offspring,Pearl Jam,Ozzy Osbourne,REM,Nickelback,Barenaked Ladies,although BNL is probably more pop than rock.)
