So I was just thinking about how annoying it is when people post on your wall, but have their comments closed so you can't message back. Most people do this only because they don't want random people talking to them, but I thought it would be nice if they had an option to allow the person they just messaged to message them back.
There could be choices for how long until they close again to that person, and/or a certain number of posts before they close.
Someone could make an alt and have spam sessions with it without ever having either comments open, which is the jackpot for hiding spam. Which means they wont get caught.

Hmm...that would be problematic. I'm not sure how it could be gotten around either, unless the comments remained visible.
Well, this is a bit unrelated to the current thing your suggesting, but it would be easier if you could have an option open so that only your friends could message you, my comments would be open that way.
And about Cholo's problem, maybe mods can view closed comments anyways. Who knows what mod tools they have?

The only problem with that is that mods can't monitor everyones comments at once, we're the eyes of the mods. And if we can't see what's going on in other peoples comments then a lot more spam is going to get away.

So basically the major problem with this suggestion is everything being hidden. Maybe the posts could be shown for a few days, but then they disappear like the rest after a week or so. That way anyone visiting their profile would see that they've been spamming. To stop people from being confused as to why they can't post and others can, there could be something in the post that indicates those people are friends or were invited to post.

Maybe a better idea on the whole would be to restrict those people who have their comments closed from posting on other peoples profiles. This way, they can't post and then not be able to recieve a reply.
However, this poses the problem of people posting then closing their comments, but that could probably be resolved some how...
