Ever heard of a little thing called caller ID? It tells you what number is calling you so you can decide whether you should pick up the phone or not. And an "unknown number" is usually ignored, so I doubt that crank-calling is much fun anymore. I haven't done it in years...

u have a good point Ernie15, so ya dialling a randome # doesn't always work. but places like wal-mart, mcdonalds, and "deal or no deal" don't have caller id.

Actually, mcDonalds, wallmart, pizza stores.....ALL have caller ID. Pizza stores turn people in all the time. if you called someone over and over, like claling wallmart 7 times in a row, you owuld get the cops called on you.

What's really fun is calling 1-800-***-**** (insert words where *'s are)

You can get some really funny shit. But, crank calls can be scary to others. My brother did it once to this lady who had been robbed just a few days ago, and she nearly called the cops on us.

The only successful crank calls these days are those on pay phones. No caller ID and everyone answers them!

Most people would see that as an unknown number and not pick up the phone.

well I will admit some friends and I back in Middle School used to prank call a couple times. The guy who came up with the idea of using a thing called #67(not sure if that works everywhere) but it basically makes you show up as unknown on caller ID, and we just used a phone book so we would know the peoples names, and everything. I can't say I can look back and feel proud about it, but I have done it before, and some people actually will pick up the phone to an unknown caller.

Unknown callers at least where I live tend to be solicitors, or people trying to haggle you about a late payment on a credit card, so most people especially some people I know tend to not pick them up. Other then that it could be the guy from Scream for all you know.

Good point, BUT, what if its important. Unknown callers don't mean that its the first time they call, right?

Random fact:

I think that 000-000-0000 is Bell's number (for Canada)
