Fable 1 was better for its time. Fable 2, seemed to lack direction, and tried to attempt too many different things. The detail of the game was amazing, but it seriously lacked lifetime. Not to mention you couldn't get armour any more. What's up with that? Once you'd bought the master weapons, which were far too easy to obtain in my opinion, there was pretty much nothing meaningful to spend your money on.
Fable. Even with all the flaws, it was great. Fable 2 is just what Fable 1 puked out after to many health potions... Like the map. WTF?! I get a dog instead?! That doesn't even make any sense! And the story? The Bard from the first one would be ashamed!
although i actually never owned fable 2 ive played and beaten both and for me they are tied while fable 1 had a better story overall the multiplayer part of the second was just great

I diagree. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to RPG. Multiplayer was a bad idea. I know so many people who just got one of their friends who'd already had the game to just send them 1 million gold. Where's the challenge in that?
I actually don't think I have a favorite between the two. I think the games did a lot of things right, and also had a lot of mistakes. If you put the two together, though? That would be a pretty incredible game. For instance...
I liked having armor. Why doesn't armor exist in Fable 2? Like, my friend downloaded the expansions and was saying something about armor, but you can't include something in only an expansion and consider it part of the game.
I loved the whole real-estate, economy simulator. After a good day of buying and fixing and renting, I was almost a millionare. So it was definitely a good idea making it so you didn't have to kill a person in order to buy their house.
I like that magic is actually useful in Fable 2. I didn't use a single spell besides heal life in the first Fable, because it just wasn't necessary. Ever.
I liked that you aged in Fable 1, though it happens too quickly. I'm the sort of loser who spends hours training right at the beginning of a game, so I usually was about 55 by the third mission. I still like the idea of growing up and having the world grow around you. I think they should implement more things like cities becoming more or less developed, statues being erected, bridges being built. It was a good level of immersion that was under utilized in my opinion.
