Hey, I looked it up, and I didn't see any other topics on this subject, so sorry if it's been suggested.
So here's my idea: AG should start using IP bans.
So I was wondering, why does AG not support IP bans? Legal reasons? Or has it just not been implemented?
Because, the way I see it, someone does something wrong and "ermaban (quotes because they can be circumvented [and they have been. Multiple times.])", someone loses their privileges on this site, and someone gets no second chance. But that's not the case. Banned users just make a new account and come back. So is there even a point to the permaban? Really?
Quite frankly, I don't see what harm it could do, so if someone could either shed some light on the subject or implement this idea, then I'll be happy.
The problem is that proxy servers can be used to bypass an IP ban unless the site being accessed has an effective anti-proxy script.
Mmm, yes, but is our resident troll really that determined? I know he's made 20+ accounts, but it seems like he really hates it here. Why would he bother with a proxy just to continuously bug the living crap out of us?
Unless it's that easy to get a proxy. I know little about interwebs software-type... stuff.

Uhm, as far as you know, he might have been using proxies all along. Also, (as it seems) our dear Priest have been using a lot of proxies to keep himself on this site to annoy and amuse, so why should he not do so again.

You go to website for proxies, you put in website you want to use proxies on. You are now using proxies.
It's pretty easy to get a proxy. Heck, there are even some online that you don't even have to download, to bypass these types of things.
I really don't think it's necessary, mostly because of the innocent people it impacts. And as well, it can be bypassed pretty easily, using a different internet connection/computer, proxies, etc.
If somebody wants to have an account somewhere that much you can't do nothing to sop him, he will have his account. There are many reasons for that, it's too complicated to have a 100% ban and there are hundreds of way of fooling even a good anti-proxy script.

Seriously?
Jeez. No wonder I can't use anything electronic but my laptop and my game consoles. I'm electronically inept, it seem. Among other things, but you know.

True.
My spiteful, sleep deprived 14-year-old mind will barely let me see the other side of the argument on this one, though.
*Sigh*
On the plus side, 420 seems to be dying down a tad. I haven't seen him do anything too nasty as of late. Maybe he really is getting bored.

Good. An IP ban is not the way, ignoring him until he gets bored is the way.
