Owen was confused of what the acronym meant. So, that's why he thought that it might be a stupid question, which it isn't.

It's not a stupid question is very wise, I believe that many have/had the same question.

But yeah, what OP stands for depends on the context. In forums it's usually Opening Post or Opening Poster (referring to the person who made the opening post).

Just like when we talk about AP in this forum we usually mean Armor Points, while over in the DC (DragonCave, not the comicstuff) it's the Abandoned Page.
