I... don't really like this game as much as I did, I haven't logged in, in about 2 weeks. Like many of Krin's games I found them to be boring after playing them for about a week or two, I haven't really found a game that I want to play over and over in awhile. The problem with Colony is that it's to short, too boring, and it's campaign is very cheesy, I expected this game to be a bit like Mastermind World Conqueror, I was extremely wrong. Some of the things I actually liked about this game is that it had a lot of characters, but it wasn't nearly as good as Masermind, or Starcraft which is what he said this game was based off of, if he wanted to base Colony off Starcraft, at-least make the marines look like marines, instead of humans dressed in black suits with a pellet gun, they were as weak as Hell. But basically I'm saying that the game gets boring to fast, Krin should make a better game with his time an I don;t plan on playing this in the far and near future. It's also too much like Warfare 1944, it's basically a warfare set in the year 2150, gets boring, a bit too much originality and everything else I think this game has flawed.

In Starcraft, you have a very large map, and can upgrade just about everything, and instead of having one strip of map, you have a huge, to very small map that you must have your troops explore before you attack. Have you ever played Starcraft?

That is really any good RTS if you think about it. I think what Colony lacks is variety, if every faction had there own units, or just some special units then I could see multiplayer having more replay value.

If you control 8 buildings, you will get way too many resources and you'll be able to build almost any unit which will destroy any variety that this game has.

I personally find that there's tons of variety already in the game. The fact that you can't win by mass production of only one type of unit is one example.

Lastly, can you really compare a game developed by a handful of people to a game created by a large corporation?

That's what I was thinking, something that would make it replayable to discover something new. Say, when you created an account you chose a government, and than people would create 3 accounts to check out all the things the game has to offer, attracting them for a longer time.

Like, say, Pokemon?

Yeah good point. The game lost it's flair after 1 week of play. Somebody needs to make a good game, thats worthy of replay, and not repetitive.

i like the number of units and buildings. anymore would cause balance issues and would need the game map adjusted. he just needs to add things to strive for and rewards when you get them.
-like your rank should show in lobby without the use of /stats. and also have a profile that ppl could see more then just the amount of games youve played. (think stick arena)
-and of course way more ranks. he could easily have 24 ranks without much of a hassle.
-more game settings and variety would be nice as well.

Ok, since you mentioned pokemon I'm going to assume that pokemon was developed by either a single person or a small group of people.

Disregarding the fact that pokemon is not an RTS, let's compare Colony to Pokemon.

To some, colony has replayability, while others feel that there is no replayability to colony. For argument's sake, let's just say that Colony has some replayability. Now considering pokemon, how many times have you beat the game from scratch? I doubt that there are many people who were willing to play the game over and over.

Next, let's consider variability. In pokemon, we have things like, grass type, water type, etc. In the end, all you have to do is choose a stronger type, level it up the highest, and go for 1 hit KOs. For Colony, we do not have a single dominating unit (except maybe queens). Hover tanks and glads will get dominated by air units (phantoms), air units are extremely vulnerable to sakatas, snipers can hit and run, romans can act as human shields, and so on.

In addition, the idea with a set government per account would just increase the number of accounts by three-fold. That's all that will be accomplished.

Lastly, let's consider the balance of the game since it was mentioned just earlier. How many games have people played where there has been cookie-cutter builds, overpowered races and overpowered units? I alluded to this idea with my argument for variability but now I believe it deserves to be mentioned. Further example of this is the fact that to be successful, one player must start out with a barracks, and the other with a forge.

I generally love Strategy games, but this one, with all the hype, wasn't what it was set up to be. When I first played it, I loved it, didn't think there was anything in he world that could replace it. I though the same thing with Warfare 1944. Although I like that he puts updates in the game to make it better, it still lacks, graphics for example, they're ok, but it's almost as if they're fuzzy, and that takes away the amount of fun your having when your trying to identify a unit at first glance.

I agree that it will get boring after a while, but than, doesn't most games? Krin said Colony is a test run and there's most likely going to be another, and I think this game is already pretty darn good. It's just the repetitiveness of using the same strategy over and over again when you get good, and the same units. If only Krin would constantly update it with new...well, stuff.

You know, somthing as simple as a different looking battlefield/background would help.

True, but then again I have found two games that I enjoy playing over an over, Oligarchy and Plumet.
