So, since my last competition was pretty much a discussion, I'll now close that and move over to this general colony discussion (the others are all specific)
TALK ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO COLONY (and beef burgers)
Did you forget that Hovers outrange Chronites? I was running some tests with another person on this thread, and I destroyed around 20 Chronites with a single Hover Tank. Chronites are utterly useless against Hovers; only the Snipers are actually doing anything.
My normal build gets out some snipers early to cover the chrnoties, then spam them. WHen I have enough, I charge them through...might lose 5-10, but if you have enough when you do attack, ALL the hovers pretty much die.

Or did that recent patch completely screw that up?

Any type of Sniper Rush in general should be able to cripple the opponent, and quite possibly take the game, before they even start to think about Hover tank tech, so it's not so much that Chronites are good against Tanks as it is that rushing them with Snipers is very powerful.
In the end, it's all about the Snipers. Chronite Tanks really don't do anything but sit there and tank damage. It's better to just get more Snipers, since their range lets them deal more damage. Chronites may do splash, but they'll just get killed by the Hovers before they can get a shot off in the first place.
Then again, anything other than Spec Ops builds have ACCESS to Romans and Marines ^_^
The funny thing is that Marines are good against Scouts, Sphynxes, and Romans. It's a very odd niche to play, for being such a cheap unit. You'd be amazed at how quickly auto-Rines will destroy a Sphynx, even when it's backed up by Medics. It leaves an opportunity for you to get the stronger units, such as Groditz, Hover Tanks, Sniper spam, etc.
Oh, and we need to make a compiled list of common abbreviations for units and buildings XD
But most builds nowadays revolve around Monarchy + Sanctum anyways, so an easy followup to mass Rines is Saints. That leaves me to believe that this game is still heavily favored for Monarchy. Cap Sniper Rush or Cap Roman Rush are the only things that are viable outside of a Monarchy build (whether it be RaxSanctum, SpecSanctum, tec.).
And the abbreviations: Eh, it used to be called Kata way back before (like, before patch 2.7, normally a part of phantomkata). Also, you might not have heard half the abbreviations because a third of them are game-type abbreviations XD Nobody REALLY uses those, except for EQ.
lol ive never heard anyone use 'katas', i use 'saks'
2v2 is way to complicated for me. 1v1 is pretty much a guessing game. i sit and wait with a bank untill i see there second building come up then i decide a counter.
Nobody's ever heard of Katas? D: I hear it all the time! XD
2v2 is much more dynamic than 1v1, obviously. There are so many different possibilities. It's all about Cap Roman Rush + Monarchy Pride Rush, though XD
LOL thats funny because thats exactly what i do in 2v2 as well when im playing with someone i know. me and my friends havent tried finding a counter to it yet though. we mostly stick to testing 1v1
One problem with the abb kata is that it can refer to both Sakata MKIIs and Sakata Spiders. I always use MKIIs to refer to them because that is the specific unit name, and thus cant be confused with other units.
Eh, maybe I'm just old school. Spider = Sakata Spider, Kata = Sakata MKII (the more commonly used Sakata)
Although I do see people referring to Chronites as just "Tanks" XD Normally, you can tell that it refers to Chronites, though, because Hover Tanks are called Hovers, not tanks.
