I dont know if this is the place to ask this, but I was just wondering how exactly the rank system works. I know how it works generally, but can you go down in rank? I know when I hit rank 7, I lost like 7 in a row soon after and didn't lose a rank, so I was just wondering if you can actually go down in rank or if it just goes up when you win.

You can't go down in rank, but it does make it a good bit harder to reach the next rank if you continuosly lose.

There are hidden points. It depends on consecutive wins. No, your rank cannot go down.
