A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

The art I create,
How amazing and awesome,
Oh no 'tis a smudge!

I lol'd. Good haiku too.

The CDO award

The Dictionary Award-Graham

Catatonia
Cognitive Cacophony
I cherish my faults.

I had to look up some words in the dictionary, so what?
Great flow and use of alliteration really liked it.

The I made my own theme award-FallenSky

The pristine ocean
Home to the keenest of reefs
The boat sank promptly

Good haiku but I'm not sure how this deals with imperfection. Unless the reefs symbolize something deep and meaningful. Either way you won last time soooo.

The "E" Award-dudeguy45

Concrete, smog and death
nirvana, trees and wildlife
But one is perfect

Which one?

The Iceberg Award-Teeheegirl123

The Great Titanic
So perfect, what could go wrong?
Only everything...

I like how you brought in an event we all know. The boat sinks by the way.

The Paradox Award-Freakenstein

Various flaws make
for a complete flawlessness
in mind, build, and soul

Flaws make for flawlessness?!?! *confusion*.

The Socially Aware Award-Flippin3500

Look at the scarred face.
What in the world have I done?
I am a disgrace.

Prohibition! ...What?

The Monumental Award

Oh, white monument,
Many people adore you,
Leaning to your side.

The epitome of imperfection?

The Time Award-ulimitedpower

The once so fair face
Cracks under rain, wind and time

Like Mt. Rushmore? Good sensory details.

The American Award-beastahayes

Eat at McDonalds
I think I'll have the Big Mac
Crap! I gained 12 pounds

"Guns kill people like forks make people fat."

All submissions past page 140 were too late. I hope you enter the next contest though =]

Now on to the merit award

The Bronze Award-beastahayes

Eat at McDonalds
I think I'll have the Big Mac
Crap! I gained 12 pounds

Funny, consistent flow, and overall a great poem.

The Silver Award-ulimitedpower

The once so fair face
Cracks under rain, wind and time
To reveal beyond

I really enjoyed the content but the last line seemed to break the rhythm a bit. Still an overall good haiku.

The Gold award-thepossum

The art I create,
How amazing and awesome,
Oh no 'tis a smudge!

Still makes me laugh every time I read it. Besides that it's one of my favorite haiku I've read. Very, very good.

The Platinum Award-Freakenstein

Various flaws make
for a complete flawlessness
in mind, build, and soul

Wow. Such a great poem. I honestly can't express how much I like it with just words.

The Diamond Award and Merit Winner-graham

Catatonia
Cognitive Cacophony
I cherish my faults.

* Applause* I love the words, the alliteration, and the rhythm. There are no breaks in the flow of the haiku and it's just amazing throughout.

Congratulation to all the entrants and I just want to say how difficult it was to judge because all the submissions were simply excellent. This is especially true for the top five and even more so for the top three; hope to see you all again

I don't know if I have the liberty to select a new topic but I will if one isn't posted by tomorrow night.

Well, I thought that seeing as 1420, being Samy's post number on the thread is also a classic number for drag racers, a quarter mile, the theme should be Speed.

But, being the judge, your choice.

Dam* no edit.

My math skills and memory skills are off, so nevermind the above post.

Total fail.

Samy, you choose.

But speed is such a hard topic! I was trying to come up with one about it and I could only think of one line that sounded OK!

Well I would say speed or aroma. It's your choice out of those two.

Made my own theme!?
That couldn't have been more about perfection/imperfection relationship.

The pristine Ocean
Home to the keenest of reefs
The boat sank promplty

It talks about how even what seems perfect in surface isn't, and how it's impossible to attain such a status as perfection and if by chance you do, you'll see that it isn't that great thus, being perfect is all the more imperfect...well, this being said, I do feel a lot like Milan Kundera but I won't develop further...anyway it's true that I couldn't win twice...but could I have been in the top five at least ot it's prohibited too?

Dang it! Why did you choose Speed?! Anyway, you should inform a mod so they can change the title.

Stupid phone...

@Fallen I get it now but like you said you couldn't win and I want the top five to only be people who had a chance at winning, good luck with speed though =].

@Possum I figured we might be able to do the five senses at once or as a continuing theme so I decided to wait. Besides you always do good, and if its that hard and you spend time on it you'll probably win.

Mine's not so obvious with the speed, but hopefully I managed to build that image within the haiku.

Twilight in the park
Desperately she glided
Through the bamboo trees.
