A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.
Well, that said, heres the rules:
1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)
Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...
The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Seriously where is Mav? And does the judging take place today or tomorrow? I'm dying to know if my haiku really stunk as much as I think it did.
Guys, Mav has asked me to judge the contest. He is swamped with school work he says. Here is his comment:
Can you please judge the Haiku Contest? I'm swamped with school work, and can't do it anytime soon. Just judge it like the previous one, but try and include everyone. You know...
Oh, and the next theme can be 'Pine Tree' or something. Has to do with nature, you can decide.
Thanks m8,
Mav.
I'm fine with it...as long as you can be impartial, which I'm pretty sure you can.
Umm, can we just not do a pine tree lol, that is to similar to the theme we have now.
Thanks guys. I agree, the next theme will not be tree-related... but most will be nature related. There might be a few fun themes if I judge for a while.
I'll wait for a few more people to speak on this matter, if not I'll judge in a few hours.
I think the next theme should be violent in some way. Now that will be interesting...

I'm fine with you judging.
Just hurry, please.
Well, solid round everyone, lots of entries! As you know... the theme was The Fruit Tree. In total, we had 13 official entries, which is a lot! If you are not aware, Maverick has appointed me to judge, whether he is going to come back and judge or not, I honestly don't know. But without further ado, lets get to the judging. I'll be using an awards format similar to Parsat's (wood, iron, gold awards... etc.) so thank you to him for the idea.
The wood award (5th place) goes to... Bronze
Lonely tree swaying
Fruit to give but none to take
Waiting for someone
A haven in hell
green moss creeping up soft bark
Succulent fruit shines
Hollowing alone,
An ancient oak stands erect,
Holding dark secrets.
Beautiful orchard
Clusters of my apple trees
Leaves red, gold, and brown
The dazzling fruit tree
Sparkles in the moonlight glare
Silently swaying.
The fruit-filled branches,
Holding me from my demise,
I check the branch, snap.
Tumbling apple drops,
Time-worn tree cracks; piercing sound,
Farewell storied tree.
Danger Lurks Inside
It will Stand out from the Rest
It will cause you death
Beneath the fruit tree
Sits a beautiful woman
Looking up at me
The fruit tree grows fruit,
But what is that in the ground?
Oh, its a carrot
One fat lumberjack
Cuts down an ugly fruit tree
It lands on my head
I picked an apple
Inside was a big surprise
The worm kicked my face
Life giver to all,
a wise elder among us,
Plentiful and kind
Holy crap i won!!!!
So when merit's are allowed i can collect one? or is it just an imaginary merit?
Congrates GuitarHero.
Are we allowed to go ahead and post mountian Haiku now?
Yeah, you can post mountain haikus now. And to guitarhero... you can't come in 1st this round (mountain round).
