A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Question: Would "fragile" count as 2 or 3 syllables?

I grew up listening to this so initially I would've said 3, but I researched it a bit. It's 2. You're safe.

Heh, probably one of the best pronunciations of that I've ever seen.

Thanks, though. :P

Morning comes with lilies,
Bloom 'til daylight dissipates,
Tomorrow, the same.

Not my best, but, meh :P

@invisibleninjagirl
Your 1st line is 6 syllables (mor-ning comes with li-lies), should be 5, just sayin.

Even though I don't need to fix anything, I've decided to change mine:

O fragile lily...
Delicate, yet beautiful,
The daughter of the daybreak.

Your third line has seven sylabulls.

I had another idea for that in mind, but I forgot it by now...

Just judge my first one, then. :/

Your second line is 8 syllables, should be 7. If you want to just post haikus, post them here instead:

Ok, if we're allowed to abriviate words, it's an easy fix, and I'll look it up in the rules at some later point in time. Will have it reposted tomorrow, Friday at the latest. Thanks for the tip, EmperorPalpatine

Depends on what you mean by abbreviation. It your usin 1337 Speak/Text Tlk, thats not ok. But if you use a apostraphe to cut out a syllabul, then its ok. Kinda situational though, so I'll keep an eye out for it and confirm/deny it it.

A timid flower
She worries about nothing.
Then why hide away?

I had to do some research to understand what exactly a day lily was and meant..Still not sure, but eh...

Its a Lily, but the flower only blooms for a day. So I'll be looking for that reflected in the Haiku's.
