A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

As a past judge, I feel more important than you, and I might as well blatantly spy on this thread.

Justin Timberlake. He sings the chorus.

And as creator of this thread, I am infinitely more important than any of you can ever be. So there.

Gawd..

But Chuck Norris isn't here... or maybe he's just waiting in the shaddows preparing to unleash an epic haiku upon us all! He can write a haiku with 1 syllable, you know.

Must write a haiku to bring back on track!

A barren wasteland
surrounds this road, forgotten,
left to fade away.

I'd like to try this...

Ice, wind, snow, and rain
Fall here on this beaten path
Long and forsaken.

Let's have a crack at this shall we?

Where eyes cease to chase
the golden ticker-tape wanes
A crimson nightmare

ever dared to leave to go

I loathe this old road.
It has taken many souls,
Even my first love...

I would like a new one to be judged.

I loathe this old road.
Taking souls that travel it,
Why is mine untouched?

There are soo many good haikus. There is a lot of judging to be done.

A Trip Down the Lane of Pain

Memories of pain.
I've forgotten long ago.
Don't bring up this road.

I'll write my one-syllable haiku while I'm waiting.

I will too.
Road.

And another:

As I gaze out to
this disowned path, I offer
my only gift.. love.

Couldn't think of another 1 syllable gift.
