A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Tray, i think there is another thread on here for Tankas, but I don't think it has been updadted in a bit. but this is strictly Haikus.

But if you flip through the first few thread pages, there are very many interesting poetry contests.
Like the Terxa Rima contest, Acrostics contest ( although it is about to die ), the weekly poetry contest, and alot more.

OK, lets go...

The once so fair face
Cracks under rain, wind and time
To reveal beyond

I wish I could add another line... Checked using the Oxford Dictionary, so everything is correct.

@Flippin, Haiku's don't have to be in nature... They are mostly used for nature themes though.

I am wondering when the judging will be...? Anyone got a clue?

Actually, Moon. A Haiku, by definition, requires a Kigo, or a word about a season. So by definition, they DO have to be about nature. =/

It also requires a Kiregi, or a cutting word, at the end of the Haiku or at the end of a certain verse, to give the reader a sense of dignified end.

And no clue when judging will be ._.

By definition they do, but we (I) could care a less. We don't follow definitions. We just write in lines and try to make it creative and meaningful.

Anyone got a clue?

Yes, tomorrow. Sorry, I failed. Again.

My computer was acting up again. Excuses make me feel better.

*Takes on old man Southern accent*

Excuses are for sissy-boys and queerbait! *Gets rid of accent*

Also, I noticed that you posted it at 12:48 a.m. and seeing as I don't know whether that was the actual time when you posted it wherever you live, I need clarification. Is the judging in fact today or is it tomorrow on the 14th?
