A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Ask any mod about it, but I guess asking mods dawdling more around the Maw would earn you the merit faster...Some mods *cough* *cough* -Zophia- *cough*, are not that fast at getting their comments, just kidding Zoph *wink*.
Try Cenere or Strop I say, just post a request and the link to the page where it's stated that you've won and voila; merit for you.

Monsoons don't have eyes, but hurricane is close enough. Same season.

Mistaken for a typhoon, the eastern version of a hurricane. my bad. and im kinda upset that i epically failed at that haiku. Oh well, I suck at em anyways. T_T

Here goes another forseen failure...

He left me alone
With my tears flowing freely
Haven't cried since then

Eh, my best shot. Probably not as pretty as the others, but it came from the heart. Hope it gets better than 7th T T

I know I can't win twice in a row but I might as well put a Haiku up for the sheer fun of it.

My salvation waits
past an invisible horizon
I shed my dark past

It's about departing from a life of crime, turning over a new leaf as it were.

I close my eyes shut
Places seen by no man waits
A world of wonder

past an invisible horizon

You are leaving me
For that skanky prostitute
Maybe I'll kill you

Give me a break here! It's late... or early (both?)

a better life waits
unseen and without sorrow
I shed my dark past

I can't win it this week, anyway. I just wanted to put something in - to feel like I was contributing. I wish everyone with a chance the very best of all luck. May your Haiku be beautiful and syllabary accurate.

But...Who's the judge for this round!?
I'll contact a Mod about changing the thread's title in the meantime.
