Well, not really something that really exists...though I'm sure all kids think so.
SS Syndrome a.k.a Sick Student Syndrome
Cause: School
Well, I have a specal variant. Singaporean Student Syndrome. Here's our sad story.
Did'ya know some of us crazy Singaporean kids sleep at 2am?? On a daily basis? And no, we do not stay up that late to play WOW, Guitar Hero or to watch Lost.
No, we study. Then we wake at around 4am to 6am to get to school. Then we work all the way till 5pm, come home, eat, shower, sit down and study. Or do homework. Or both.
And not just us. Our parents love to just sit down and teach us, stuff us with herbal soups (to keep the mind healthy AND comatose), or to lay us down with a nice cane to work harder. And then at 2am, we sleep. And the whole damn cycle repeats itself in the morning.
And guess what? We don't have summer holidays. And some of us get sent to extra 'tuition' classes. And this whole thing starts when we're around 9 to 10 years old.
Alright, enough of my rambling....
So, just tell us some of your own school *cough* horror stories. And since school is about to start for you guys, (And end for us! Thank God!), let's hear some of them!
I'm on pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum as Nich. For me, school is so EASY it's torturous. Today, for example, I thought that 2nd period (8:32-9:19) was the last period. Also, I've had to think of inventive ways not to fall asleep in classes.
For me, school is relatively short - 7:40-2:40.
The 'high ability' or 'academically talented' program I'm in is a f**king joke. It ups the difficulty a little bit, but not much - about 4 or 5 grade levels at the most, which is nothing for me. My school is a great school - but it's too easy to get straight As. Painfully easy. All I have there are friends, and I don't have friends in most of my classes.
Ah, well. At least some of the classes are enjoyable. French, social studies, and language arts pass quickly.
Ah alt, school was easy for me too all the way through elementary. I mean, the "advanced" classes were no sweat. Straight A's all the time. Then I reached middle school and high school. And my song changed. Just you wait.
That really is a horror story. You're doing fine right now, aren't you?
Religion? Interesting...not for us...
Of course not. I never liked being taught Catholicism in school. I hate memorizing things I don't have much use for (I'm not a Catholic). At least I didn't fail.

Old enough for parents to stop it.
