Well, not really something that really exists...though I'm sure all kids think so.
SS Syndrome a.k.a Sick Student Syndrome
Cause: School
Well, I have a specal variant. Singaporean Student Syndrome. Here's our sad story.
Did'ya know some of us crazy Singaporean kids sleep at 2am?? On a daily basis? And no, we do not stay up that late to play WOW, Guitar Hero or to watch Lost.
No, we study. Then we wake at around 4am to 6am to get to school. Then we work all the way till 5pm, come home, eat, shower, sit down and study. Or do homework. Or both.
And not just us. Our parents love to just sit down and teach us, stuff us with herbal soups (to keep the mind healthy AND comatose), or to lay us down with a nice cane to work harder. And then at 2am, we sleep. And the whole damn cycle repeats itself in the morning.
And guess what? We don't have summer holidays. And some of us get sent to extra 'tuition' classes. And this whole thing starts when we're around 9 to 10 years old.
Alright, enough of my rambling....
So, just tell us some of your own school *cough* horror stories. And since school is about to start for you guys, (And end for us! Thank God!), let's hear some of them!
Well although my schooling isn't nearly as rough at one point I my life was basically; go to school, come home, nap, wake up, do homework all night, sleep (a little bit, wake up, go to school...
I hated it but it kept my mind sharp and I got excellent grades. Then one year I decided to take it easy on the learning to make more friends at school. Cool experience, but I actually noticed a decrease in mental capability.
It can be over done, and way too much pressure can be put on the student, but it can also be underdone and the student gets nothing out of it, and loses mental sharpness.
The only time I ever didn't make an A was in 6th grade, and there were lots of family troubles going on then, I was very sick, etc.
I'm in middle school now. 7th grade. Advanced classes. And I'm really bored.
>.<
I was even bored when my literature class read the unabridged version or Robinson Crusoe in 6th grade!
viz., viz., viz.,
*twitches*
In a word, lack of challenge is a discomfort.
Same. Your marks drop as you get older.
Mine've actually gone up since elementary school. . . .
>.<
I entered into advanced classes in 3rd grade. Middle school started in 5th grade. Now, I'm in 7th grade. No tangible increase in challenge from 3rd grade. And I go to one of the best schools in the USA. (public schools, that is)
Also, you know what's worse? My grading scale loosened up this year.
It should've gotten tighter. >.<
Oh well. Now, even just a 98% is an A+.
I'm not in nearly as bad of a situation as kids in China and Japan and Singapore and such, but sometimes I wish I *was* in one of those schools. I may actually get challenged.

I was going to say that your profile says 12 years old but your posts show an intellectual strength of someone much older. I was wondering if maybe the age on your profile was out of date or something but that explains why. Keep up the excellent work.
