Rome Total War is my favorite RTS game.

It is.

C&C is great too. So are the other games in the Total War series and the AOE games.

I would agree with Civilization as well as C&C. Those are my favs.

Ugh. I don't think I can pick one, but here's my top three for the moment:

Sins of a Solar Empire.
Galactic Civilizations 2.
Dawn of War 2.

I've heard good things about empire total war, but haven't had an opportunity to play it yet.

Warcraft III (and the expansion)

I couldn't care less how old it is. Still very successful today. Only downside is that the ol' BattleNet community has vanished (likely playing World of Warcraft or another game)
