i know it sounds daft but how do i check my computers specs eg what graphics card and stuff i have, because i was thinking of buying some new pc games ( most of mine are ancient) and i dont know if my computer can handle them

If you have XP... go to the Start Menu, then click on Run. Type in dxdiag.

sorry for the double post but how do system specs work because iv brought up what my computers are but im not sure if what i have is above the minimum requirements of the game, how do i tell?

if all the numbers of your specs are higher or equal to the one on the game, then you are good to go. if all are lower you cannot play it.
if some are higher and some lower than you can buy it on your own risk. it may work or may not.

computer specs work as anything other does too. the more you have the better it is

im not sure because one of the requirments for the game is
A 128MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 6600
and i have no idea if what i have is equivalent to that , to be honest im not even sure were it shows me what i have

well if you do as shayneii told you you find a console with your specs. click through the menu and you find the video card specs. if you have more than 128MB youre good to go. maybe you even have a geforce card and can also compare the number of your card. higher then 6600 is good.

if you have more questions, just post your specs and the games needs and we will tell you if it works

* 5.5 GB of Hard Drive space

i dont know its hard to find it when im not sure where to look , iv never really had to know what my specifications were because most of my pc games are quite old 90% of them made before 2002

when i put in dxdiag it comes up with directxdiagnostic tool i think its not working the same because i have windows vista , i think i have found the write thing but i dont know where to start looking, if i knew of a way i could send you a screenshot i would but i dont.

that was what was under name in the device box

dac type:internal
approx total memory:286mb
current display mode: 1440 x 900 ( 32 bit) (60hz)
monitor:generic pnp monitor
and that is everythingin the box "device"
