Don't use any ointments or put butter on it!

If you have a certain type of burn gel called "CoolGel", then use that. If not just run it under lukewarm water (normal temperature) for at least 15 minutes, or until it stops hurting.

Do not put ice on it, that will damage the burnt skin tissue!

I wish I had been told that before I put Polysporin on it. D:

Is it second degree?
How big is it?
Describe what it looks in 12 hrs.

I got this huge burn on my arm at work, it was second degree. It took 10 days to heal, but its been almost a month and its still discoloured and weird.

Ah... it's not that bad... it's just that it doesn't really help. But anyways, is it doing better?

And if you can't be at running water, dip your finger into a bowl or something with cool-ish water in it, and let it soak.

It's at a point where I can deal with it and move along with my day. It was due to my own stupidity that I got burned, so I deserve it.

Don't worry about it. It already happened, you can't change it :P

And if you ever wrap it up, don't use normal gauze, use non-stick gauze. Though since it is just your finger I doubt you will.

Normal gauze will stick to the burn and rip off the skin when you take it off.
