F UCK you all!!! Twilight, and all the other books in the series, are awsome books!! ( the movie was kinda lame) and the most reson that people don't like it is because they don't give it a chance. if you seriously read it you would like it. and i know some people say that they read some of it, well you can't judge it by like the 1st 16 pages or something!!! i mean come on you can't with anyother book. and the next reson is because the movie was kinda lame, and some people just watched the movie and then thought the book was lame. but seriosly if you have an issu with tlilight then ACCUALLY READ IT!!!!! and the 3rd reson is because a lot of people think it's just for girls, but its not, i mean i'm a guy and i love it!!!! so seriosly, stop dissing on stuff. if you don't like something then just keep your fat a ss shut!!!
*yawn*. Troll Alert! Troll Alert! Here's a few tips if you're trying to make a point. 1. Don't swear 2. Don't insult the people you're trying to convince 3. Use correct grammar and spelling Alright, now for me to actually address what you said. I have read the whole series, and seen the movie. And my personal opinion is that it sucked. You can have your personal opinion, but that's mine. It was way too full of Mary Sues, it kept repeating over and over how perfect Edward was, it had the idiotic cliched bit in New Moon about how they were both going to kill themselves because they couldn't be with each other, and overall I'm fairly certain that the target audience was fourteen year old girls or so. Now, you're entitled to your opinion, but please don't cuss out people who don't agree with you. And on another topic, I don't think that the Twilight books were all that horrible. I mean, I hated them, but I'm not going to flame the author or anything. Because I'm a bit of an author myself, and it would be incredibly difficult to write long and successful novels like that, even terrible ones. Take it from one who's tried. So, my opinion overall: Books: Way overrated. Movies: Awful. Period. Author: I'll give her some respect; it does take skill You: Don't flame, please There you go!
Well i will go whit a constructive criticisms. Its a great story...(well a bit), but the actors are like all fashion models, and now people don't care about the movie, but only look at how pretty the actors are. And that screw up the whole movie.
Guys, ok, you hate twilight, I'm not so fond of it either, but what does making a thread to talk about your hate for twilight do? Just don't watch the movies, or read the book. Just ignore it!. This is a stupid thread.
I deleted the massive spam post. It wasn't constructive.
I can address both Soulhack and Napolian in this one post!
I happen to greatly dislike Twilight for what it is and what it has done. I have read enough of the books to make a clear assessment of Stephanie Meyer's writing abilities. Plainly speaking, her writing is terrible and the popularity of the series is a disservice to the literary world.
There is a distinction to be made between being able to exploit base escapist fantasies common to a large portion of people (nothing wrong with this), and doing so in a way that in no way promotes good writing practice whatsoever. Meyer ought to have employed a proofreader or an actual editor, and if not that, the publishing house should have done so. Her phrasing is grossly inelegant, her choice of words frequently inappropriate and so to any keen reader the enjoyment of fantasy will be offset by the awkwardness of her writing. I could slash her books in half, retain all the content AND it would read much more easily, all without breaking a sweat. In fact, I'd gladly demonstrate except I'm pretty sure I'd get sued for it.
Moving into a broader scope, I could also argue that the Twilightphenomenon represents everything that is wrong with popular culture today. Everything is now run by money and how marketable it is, which is why literature is written with intent to convert it into film and film into games- because it's more marketable that way. What this does is destroys any incentive for actual literary innovation across all forms of media, encouraging a blithely ignorant dullness to permeate culture. Popular culture is now dominated by an overbearing, boring hegemony of prefabrication, and worse, nobody's really trying to be interesting anymore.
I therefore think that it's somewhat my duty to explain this to people, meaning that there IS a point to my expressing my dislike. There's less of a point getting into fistfights and screaming matches about it, though.
To clarify just how bad I think this is, Harry Potter actually captured the imagination of readers. Twilight is a barely veiled exercise in mental masturbation. We have porn for that, you know.

That's three times you start a sentence with 'I' now, Charles.
Okay, can you just lock the thread NOW then strop? because this is just gonna become a flame war if this keeps going.
I was going to say "no can do" since I just made a constructive post and you're not the OP...but seeing as the majority of the thread IS spam, I may have to. Problem is you do know that it's just going to start up again, don't you.
However, if you have nothing further to say in response to my post, then I will go ahead and lock the thread, limited in utility as this will be.
