It really depends on what they think is good. Guitar Hero is better if you want a challenge with your fingers or you like mostly rock-metal. Rockband is better if you have a relative that wants to play with you all the time and your song choice is mostly plain 'ol rock and roll. Personally Id choose Guitar hero, I more or less grew up with it, It has better stuff for the guitar and its what encouraged me to play the real guitar

Same here, just it was World Tour with Drums. I then played Rock Band 2 and ACDC. I was utterly bored unlike with Guitar Hero. Oh yeah, I forgot to say my opinion, Guitar Hero's better for me.
In the end I guess the gameplay is the same, seeing how notes are flying at you regardless of what game you're playing. But when Harmonix themselves left their very own Guitar Hero series behind to one up the game idea to a whole Rock Band, I jumped with joy. Rock Band is a party game, you got a room of four people (Maybe more if you have a major party going on) jamming on tons of great songs. Even though there is the exception of a few like Welcome to the Neighborhood which just suck ass. Still it was all good fun, why couldn't I say the same for Guitar Hero? Because I would rather ram my face into a wall repeatedly than sit in the same room with that crappy sounding strum bar that clicks constantly. Don't get me wrong, Guitar Hero has some wicked songs in it. And as I said the games are practically the same thing in the end seeing how World Tour came out. And the guitar/bass controllers have probably gotten better and don't click (as much...) It's just that the graphics make me want to vomit every time I look at them.
So in the end it's probably just about someones opinions about whichever style of graphics and song choices attract them to the game.
Its deff not! GH is so much better! Well i guess thats just cause its easier for me with circles. I know a lot of ppl that like squares better. So pretty much thats the only diff i see.
Guitar Hero is better espicially than the original Rock Band i could hardly ever see hammer-ons made it alot harder to play for me. Also you can play Guitar Hero with friends whether it be online or with World Tour, Metallica, or 5 because they are all full band.
Rock Band is a REALLY fun game with friends and family, Guitar hero though does a an good sense of song selection, but unfortunately can't bring the party feeling.
