I believe that the human race is capable of creating nanobots . But can we control them ? Yesterday I saw on TV that some people are studying nanotecnology and said that it can possibly cure AIDS !! I don't know how they are gonna do it but I think its possible . What do you guys think ?
Not to be a prick or anything, but AIDS is a virus. Viruses are nonliving pieces of protien and RNA/DNA and there for cannot be killed. Well, unless you can get the nanobot to dissemble it properly, then maybe you can "kill" it.
Cancer is when your cyclins get messed up by either wear and tear or exposure to massive amounts of radiation. When your cyclins get messed up, your cells reproduce at alarming rates and damage the surrounding tissue. Maybe you can program the nanobot to go after cancerous cells ans terminate them.
We've been watching a video on class last year about nanotechnology and nanorobots. Nanotech is based on self-organization ability of mater, so there's a lot of chemistry and physics but no programing. There are some interesting stuff in nanotechnology, like glass that can't be scratched or paint on which graffiti can't be drawn.

Viruses are single cell organisms that attack your bodies immune system and cells, making you feel rotten. They are living things, just not in that literal sense. It's why they can reproduce so quickly, and why they can be seen on a microscope.

Viruses actually aren't single celled organisms. A virus is a sub-cellular entity that's basically a protein shell surrounding DNA/RNA. They lack the ability to do anything really besides hijacking other cells and using their machinery to produce more copies of themselves. One of the reasons why they don't fall under any of the 5 kingdoms of life.
Well we can most certainly control them if we can create them in the first place. Nanotechnology is far beyond what we are capable of right now in terms of technological advancement. It would ultimately be the cure for things like cancer and AIDS, but it's so advanced that it's not possible right now.
