I hate those freakin' ants! But in a way, they seem interesting to look at. Right now, there's a colony of ants taking over my bed. I can't sleep in my bed tonight. :P
It also feels gross when they crawl all over you. One time, my dad was watering the grass, and suddenly these ants crawled all over me. I decided to eat one. (I was like... 6 or 5) The ant tasted kinda spicy. Really, it did.
I get ants every year. Never tried the chalk thing though. When I lived in Louisiana, my dad lit one of their bigger nests on fire, but if you do that in Texas you'll burn half the town down with our dry grass. I tend to use chemical warfare against them (see their strength beat that). I'll take a shovel, dig up, mix around the soil of their nest and get them agrivated and then pour in something like bleech (powerful stuff, actual component of a chemical weapon), or, this lemon like kitchen cleaner. It's worked for me, not as entertaining as fire, but you have to work with what you got. Might try the chalk idea one day though.
