(Please pardon spelling)

Okay, I know what happened. the Arbiter discovered that Mr. Tartarus and his Prophet Pals were a load of Bull-Crap, so he got his Sanghelli species with the Unggoy (Grunts) and the Lekgolo (Hunters) against the Jiralhanae (Brutes), Kig-Yar (Jackals), and Yanme'e (Drones).

At the end of Halo 2, we see Sgt. Johnson making an alliance with the Arbiter to destroy the Brutes. The game ends with Humans friends with the Elites, but not necessarily the Grunts or the Hunters.

Somewhere between Halo 2 and Halo 3, the Hunters and Grunts rejoin the Covenant, leaving the Elites and humans alone to fight them.

What happened between halo 2 and Halo 3 that caused this? I'm a HUGE Halo fact nerd, and this is one of the few things i dont know about. PLEASE TELL ME!!

i found that rather confusing aswell , it didnt make sense that the grunts would join the brutes when brutes literally eat them at times, i suppose it was to keep the enemies balanced as playing aginst exclusivly brutes jackals and drone would be quite annoying

Who cares? It didnt matter, since you still murdered them. You know how it ends, why bother figuring out what happened before?

Here's what happened. Between the making of Halo 2 and 3, Bungie realised they needed the grunts and hunters back on the bad guys team, because prohibitng your killing to brutes and jackals would end up being extremely repetetive, and so switched them back with no explanation and hoped no one would notice.

Honestly. I do wish the video gaming industry would treat its consumers as adults sometimes.

I think it'll be explained in ODST.

As it wasn't explained in Halo 3, I see no reason why they'd go to the trouble of explaining it in ODST.
