Why does this not surprise me. What's next, will my dinner be able to sue me? Perhaps the trees should be able to sue, or have someone sue on their behalf, just another piece of evidence, a major piece of evidence in fact, that our nation is becoming WAY too sue-happy.
You know, it's surprising that this has gone this far. Let me sort this out for you. An animals prime drive in life is 1 thing, to reproduce. All other things stem out of that. The search for food for the energy to nurse a baby, the urge to build a house to be safe to protect the next generation. Animals do not have cognant thought, therefore, would have no need to sue. I can understand this however, if a species habitat is being threatend, and someone comes into it and burns the place down, that's not only a threat to the animals species, but to whoever happens to be nearby. Only humans have ever been different with cognitive thought, and thus we invented a way to solve our differences without killing or running the other person away. That's pretty much the end of that I would think.
This isn't the first time I've heard about animals suing people. But, in reality, since animals can't talk, it's people suing people while using the animal as an excuse.

I think that sums it up. As ridiculous as it SOUNDS, and as stupid as the thought of an Animal suing you is.... I think it has more to do with an animal having its "rights" defended (whatever those rights may be) by someone who cares.
IE: You chop down forest Environmentalist: No!! Rabbit has no home Environmentalist sues, making the Rabbit part of it.

Then environmentalist is silenced for blowing up my Hummer in eco terrorism.
Just thought I'd add that XD
Anyway, animals deserve to have rights, but really only certain animals. Cats, dogs, etc. deserve quite a few rights while pest rats only deserve the most basic rights.
meh its probably mostly about animal abuse and stuff like that... Like abusing your dog. The dog will get taken in to like a vet, where it will get a lawyer, and then the owner will get sued and the money will prob end up going into the government (unless of course dogs and cats can now pay for items too)... But yea its just another way to raise money for something with in the government... Maybe a nice 10 square km swimming pool... =)
