Quick to act, the government implemented project "Mayflower," where the remaining uninfected humans would be loaded onto ships that would take them to Mars. The ships were built to help re colonize Mars, and start a new world on the distant Red Planet.
However, your luck ran out. Your ship malfunctioned and crash landed back on Earth, where war has ravaged its surface to the point of inhospitable. You are the only survivor. Forced to survive in a harsh and dangerous world, you are completely alone. They'll come looking for you eventually, but until then you have three years to survive. Three years.
