@collan

Welcome to the Players Pack. The tower you have you knights on is a neat design. The Stack of long iron floor pieces you have above the king and princess is not stable. It starts to self destruct almost immediately. It ended up killing one of the knights, the princess and the king without me ever taking a shot. I would suggest changing the iron floor board section for a combination of wall and floor boards. One trick I use is I set the zoom on my browser to like 150% or 200% for designing the castle. It causes a lot more scrolling side to side and up and down but you can see where pieces line up better. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. There are also some explanations at the beginning of this thread that explain using word/notepad and excel to modify the castle and then import it back in to the game.

Kill in One Shot - yer dreaming dude!

@cmptrgeek - yer Hollywood Squares was interesting - nice work!
@collan - cmptrgeek is right - it self destructs. Sorry - but I blasted it away anyways just for fun!

cmptrgeek: I liked your Hollywood Squares very much, stable structure, makes fun to destroy it piece by pieces with a SSB.
But what I don't understand: in the new version, it's easier to put elements right on the ground, in the old version elements put at a too low level, simply fell down to hell. Code editing is a problem, the only solutions are described in earlier posts (by CourtJester, myself, others)

weadsad. Thanks, I like wooden castles too.

@castlenovice - just as I expected and probably the same with cmptrgeek! I moved it to the other CtC and it fails miserably albeit on both my computers, it works every time in this version!

clunk clunk clunk! However, she does wobble a bit on the landing.

Tell me, is she still standing? Dead or alive? On your computers?

Joey Betz needs to fix this version and I think it was messed up with the shares thing being added!!!

If you see in the sol file above, I moved her from 607 to 606.9 to get her to live on my computer albeit it is not the most stable landing.

I originally built that one to see if I could throw a rock at the wall and get her to flip - it almost worked once...

As you build your castles outside this editor, do you have dimensions of all the elements (relatively speaking)? I know that all the walls are exactly 20 thick but the floors are different between wood and stone in length.

If so, post them!!!!

As for wood castles, I enjoy blasting them away! Which also means that Joey has programmed mass into these elements and maybe has a gravity component with a terminal velocity when you bring them down from high altitude. I wonder if there is a way to determine the relative mass of each element?

I will experiment a bit with the tools that I have available and using decimal offsets using the turret as a fulcrum on a balance scale. Ie, put a king on one side and those little platforms on the other side and see the difference to keep it balanced.

Jeez - this is almost a science project!

Almost reverse engineering!

Ha ha ha...

Oh yeah, I forgot to add (as per cmptrgeek's post), I can't place a vertical element on the floor in this editor either but I can place a floor on the line - pretty close anyways. Where is the floor? I am thinking off the top of my head, without looking, at 338 or something around there...

Also, as per my above post, Joey seems to have set the 0,0 component at either the centreline of the element or the centre of mass as I seem to have some inconsistencies with the turrets - the most unstable element on the list.

BTW castlenovice, your kings all were touching and didn't die thus it appears that you know the width of this big guy! What is it?

CourtJester: On my second attempt (by always clicking "test", not "reset", she survived. When she dies, it's always when the iron wall element hits the catapult, not when she's landing.

I will answer to your numerous questions later on.

What initially began with some calculations ended ... well you will see CourtJester. I don't want to explain everything, you're clever enough to read the sol file.

Still, the most important findings:
Where is the floor?

You cannot say where is the floor, because the vertical coordinate (y) is always defined as the middle of a construction element. So, for a large wooden wall, 358 means it's on the floor, while for a small wooden wall it is 390.
So, the relative lenght of a large wooden wall is 122. That's why the long wooden column with 40 walls on top (on the right side) is very stable and doesn't collaps (even with a king on it).. It's a mystery for me why the 40-storey column to the left collapses quite soon, as it is absolutely identical to the other.

Ok, that's it, have a look at the sol file and make your conclusions ... and have fun shooting my column down :-))

@castlenovice - Just moments ago, I tried her again - she died as you said. Hmmm clunk clunk clunk - I may try to optimize this one in the other pak and see if it works here.

I believe that the floors are 10 thick so, as I can place them on the bottom, I should be able to place vertical elements on that floor close enough to determine their midpoint.

Twice the Fun

Check this out castlenovice. I moved the castle ahead 500 and then back 100 for two castles. One princess flies over the near tower and landed safely. The other landed behind the trebuchet and died so, I moved her nearer by 0.1 - and voila! Well, maybe not on your system

No :-((, both die right from the beginning, on the impact of the elements catapulting them, and they fly more to the left
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm working on a time machine *hihi* really boring, but I want to show time if one element is really high up (1 hour away)
Here's the prestudy, much more fun. But, while the setup of the building is quite reliable - I had no failures while testing - the characters coming down usually die ...
Ok now, so here is my time machine . Warning: It's highly boring!
I was wondering first what the maximum height of an element can be. I don't know. So I placed an element which takes one hour to fall down. To give a signal (a death cry) I placed a queen unterneath (so that you can realize that the queen died after one hour.
Next step was to visualize the time flow. So, every minute a small stone floor falls down to finally shape a perfect pyramid. This is your orientation point on time without clock. The last 6 minutes you will see princesses coming down. They will most probably die (exception: the princess on top of the pyramid). With the last princess the high-positioned element - a wooden fall - will fall down an dkill the queen. This should happen approximately 1 hour (plus 3 minutes on my system) from the moment you clicked "test".
I cannot say "have fun" :-)), but maybe you try it out, and then go shopping around the corner and then view the progress.
@castlenovice - I didn't wait for the w_w but took the sol file and moved it to the other pak. One died. In this players pack, I had varying results but never all survived and one time, the construction fell apart. And, it was never the same princess albeit the ones closest to the trebuchet consistently bit the bullet.
Then I used iron to see if would be more stable - nope!
I can't even imagine how long that w_w would take to come down! Didn't wait for it
On the two-fer - I had varying results as well but mostly, they landed just like the above.
