Mario first appeared in Donkey Kong, named Jumpman, or, as commonhly called, Mr. Video Game in Japan. Due to graphical limitations at the time, Miyamito (Creator) Gave him Red overalls and a blue to contrast, and white gloves to show his arms. His cap was added to avoid drawing his hairstyle, which would have to move when he jumped, ran etc.
Timeline: 1981-1990 Mario started as Jumpman, as stated before, who hat a pet monkey which he mistreated. The"et" got angry and captured Jumpman's girlfriend, Lady, which was later named Pauline. 1989-1992 A mysterious alien named Tatanaga appears and hypnotizes inhabitants of Sarasaland. He kidnaps Princess Daisy to marry her. Mario finds him eventually in his alien warship, and saves Princess Daisy.
1995-2002 Super Mario Sunshine, where Shadow Mario graffitis the whole island, and Mario is blamed for it. He gets help to clean it up from Professer E. Gadd who gives him F.L.U.D.D., a device that shoots water.
2006-present In New Super Mario Bros. Mario and Peach are going on a walk, and when Peach's castle is being attacked, Bowser Jr. sneaks up and steals Peach. After realizing what happened, Mario gives chase.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be coming out soon.
That's a good thing. The Sonic games go by too quickly, so it's difficult to enjoy them. The Mario games are more relaxed, not to mention the fact that they have mushrooms and Sonic does not.
I like Sonic better. He's faster than Mario and its easier to take out enemies in games with him. Even in super smash Bros. Brawl Sonic is better, though he lacks some attack moves.
well I vote sonic, which brings the total to aboot 14 mario and sonic 7 Sonic is taking a bit of a humping here, is it the case of the tortoise and the hare.
Honestly, his Hyper form's just epic. (EXCEPT WHEN TAILS SCREWS YOU UP IN THE IFNAL BOSS BEFORE DOOMSDAY ZONE >_> Yeah, Tails made me fall through the floor on the second phase of that boss. IN Hyper form.
Mario has been around far longer then Sonic. He has become one of the greatest Icons for video gamesi n history, and alot of games, such as board like games, RPG's, and basically a ton of other stuff, spawned off of the Mario saga. Even in my all time favorite game, Metal Gear Solid, and the Metal Gear series in its entireity, There has been mention of Mario, and some things that were inspired by the Mario games.
Sonic is a great icon as well, but he isn't as popular, and the reason why, is he hasn't been around as long, and there has been more bugs and stuff then i nMario games, due to the high speed.
plus, who can rival mario, when Sonic deosn't have famous video board games, with mini games, such as Mario Party 1- to recent( I honestly forgot how many there are.) When Sonic, as far as I can recall, only has a few genres of gameplay for him. I may be wrong on my count, but I belive there is only 4-5 variances for Sonic (in my experience) And at least like 6-7 for Mario.
I vote Mario, but its teetering towards neutrel if someone knocks the fence down.
