GRUNGE is what this thread is about. I recently took a survey at my school, only 2 out of 50 people had some idea of what is was.
This thread's purpose is simply for users to discuss this genre and learn more about it. Grunge is my favorite genre because of all of the distortion.

Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle Sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged during the mid-1980s in the American state of Washington, particularly in the Seattle area. Inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock, grunge is generally characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song dynamics, and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. The grunge aesthetic is stripped-down compared to other forms of rock music, and many grunge musicians were noted for their unkempt appearances and rejection of theatrics.

The Grunge sound, made popular by Nirvana,is an absolutely good listening experience for anyone. The simple sounding music, as some one said, is actually an overlay of guitars. This music is real because these songs come from the heart. Listen to Rancid, I know they are punk, but they come from Olympia and you hear the heart because they did and lived what there passion of lyrics say.
Gruuuuuuunge! finally i find someone who likes it. Alice in chains is my favorite band(cant wait for the new album) Then Nirvana and Soundgarden, they're both awesome. My favorite grunge songs are Come As you are, Lithium, We die young, Rooster, Would?, Outshined, Superunknown, Burden in my Hand, and many more. What songs are your favorite fyrefox?
