Technically China is officially communist. However there are a lot of American capitalist stores and factories there. Mcdonald's is becoming a big hit there, and if you watched the two year old special that came on last night on CNBC then you know what I'm talking about lol.

Anyway, if China is really communist why is there McDonald's, KFC, etc. And American factories there owned by American companies and NOT owned by the Chinese government.

These are just SOME examples mind you, so the question is... is China really flourishing economy wise because of communism? Or is it the American capitalism that is giving all of them jobs? Yes, they are payed VERY little if you're talking about factories. However the people who work in the businesses such as again McDonald's are payed decent wages.

Is Chinese capitalism becoming a new trend? And is that why they're doing so well? (stereotypically) The reason I said that in parenthesis is because China still has a lot of poor cities and villages.

Am I saying "ZOMGZ CAPITALISM IS PERFECT!"? no I'm not. I believe quite the opposite. But this just shows that CAPITALISM IS NEEDED FOR A STRONG ECONOMY. Any pure stand is bad, and I think this shows that mixed stands are what's really good for people. (In my opinion capitalism with socialized health care, medicine and other stuff that should be given out of morality.) And big businesses SHOULD be restricted and all that.... I'm rambling here, I just wanted to put it out there that Communism isn't perfect, and neither is capitalism, or socialism, or marxism, or any ism lol. In my opinion mixed is the best way to go.

Anyone else agree?

somethings I said here may not have made sense, and feel free to call me out on it so I can proofread and defend myself

Look at the system at how people work, I think that hints towards the socialist side.

it's a country known as a successful communist country. My question was, should it be known as that?

Look at the system at how people work, I think that hints towards the socialist side.

how? I have to say I disagree. Yes, they are sometimes similar systems but they're not on the same side of the view point spectrum.

They have a free market or an open economy. That isn't strictly communist but they do spend massive amounts on education and their economy instead of military like most capitalist systems seem to do.

It's actually one of the massive reasons they have overtaken the USA. Not to mention the fact that China and Australia run off each other so neither have been effected by the recession much.

Besides their free market they are strictly communist in many ways. For heavens sake they only have one political party. They press down on many nearby countries and they press down on any religion. They censor anything they want and they use propaganda.

So yeah they are still Communist in so many ways. Don't you forget it.

It is only communist on paper or whatever.

Socialism involves the government monitering how money is spent and how resourses are distributed. China is very diverse and you can find a little bit of communism, capitalism, and socialism in China. So I agree as well as disagree.

Lastly, A LOT of people in China live in poverty. Americans are spoiled. Most Americans live fairly well, or at least, above the poverty line. You can't say that for China.

In developing countries some 2.5 billion people are forced to rely on biomassâ"fuelwood, charcoal and animal dungâ"to meet their energy needs for cooking. In sub-Saharan Africa, over 80 percent of the population depends on traditional biomass for cooking, as do over half of the populations of India and China.Source 14

The succesful areas of China generally do not fall under communist rules.

exactly. we have one of the highest standards of living, which, economically speaking, is pretty goddamned nice.

and, also, China *IS* a country known for its successful mix of communism and capitalism, it isn't completely communist (not everyone is of the same standing economically, that's a huge pointer) and even the US considers it to be partly communist-- and we treat commies like fucking devils!

i dunno, if you knew, but china has declared itself a capitalist economy 2 years ago, when Hu Gin Tao initiated the free market plan. their government however is still communist based. this thread is a bit late on that.

They are officially Communist, but operate as a State Capitalist government.

Communism, in theory, calls for the abolition of the state, so they are not really Communist.
