It is the year 2029 and many people are enjoying their lives. Scientists have discovered an asteroid 6 miles wide that is heading towards Earth. The scientists have kept this top secret information that shall only be viewed by the government.
8 MONTHS BEFORE ARMAGEDDON
The government has no idea what to do with the asteroid. They tell about the asteroid hurdling towards Earth on the news. People form riots and start attacking the military. The scientists say it will hit New York and other places within a 6 mile radius. Construction workers are told to build houses underground.
3 MONTHS BEFORE ARMAGEDDON
People have just finished the underground houses. Scientists estimate they have 3 months left until impact. Many people have evacuated from New York but some people are still left to enjoy the rest of their lives. A bright light in the sky falls. Many people continue to relax as the asteroid falls.
1 WEEK BEFORE ARMAGEDDON
It is just one week before impact. The remaining people stay in parks to make the rest of their lives happy. The light becomes almost as bright in the sun. Light shock waves travel across the USA.
10 SECONDS BEFORE ARMAGEDDON In 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... The asteroid hits the state of New York. The force is so powerful, it is stronger than 100 nuclear bombs. Everything is obliterated across the eastern part of the USA in just 2 seconds. The people gone, the animals gone, the buildings gone, everything gone in an instant.
I noticed that all this really is is 'this happened. This happened. Scientists discovered this. Then, this happened.'
It needs a bit more substance - it's sounding somewhat bland. It needs a bit more substance, maybe some characters, to flesh out the story more. It's interesting though, and I'd like to see more.

It is one hour after impact. The eastern part of the USA is all destroyed. The remaining animals of the eastern part of the USA are the eagles, hawks, rats, cockroaches and ants. The rat has evolved quickly enough to grow the size of dogs. Cockroaches evolved enough to grow the size of modern day rats. Hawks and eagles evolved to see in complete darkness. It is useful, because the sun has been blocked out by the dark clouds in the sky. A magnitude 13 earthquake ravages the entire Earth. The people underground do not feel it. They all try to survive this Armageddon.
1 MONTH AFTER ARMAGEDDON
It is one month after the disaster. Earth now looks like a dark ball from space. Every place is dark and gloomy. The rats and cockroaches are successful in life. But humans aren't. No where on Earth is there light. But animals such as hawks, eagles, rats, cockroaches, ants and many small animals thrive in this dead habitat.
1 YEAR AFTER ARMAGEDDON
One year after the disaster. Earth is almost dead. But the animals aren't. People are doing good so far. But soon they will face extinction someday, as all animals have.
