well recently i just bought a new graphics card for my pc from ebay and i have a big problem.
first of all the card is a zotac 8800gt.
when i tried to put it in i found it is slightly too long to fit in my case, and aswell as that it has a metal stand-like thing and its too tall so its impossible to get into contact with the pcie port anyway.

just get a smaller model wit out the metal stand, my friend had to do that. but from now on it might be best not to buy things on ebay, unless it has all the info and you know everything about what you are looking for.

Small PCI express cards can fit into larger slots. PCIeX8 fits into PCIeX16 for example and works. But also cards of larger standard will fit into smaller ones if appropriate contacts are wired together. I have never tried this and haven't been looking for it but it is probably on the web somewhere.
I wouldn't recommend experimenting with electronics. Can you ask for a refund?

If you have a small desktop, then that might not work. I've asked about adapters, but the people at the electronics store said it wouldn't work. It's worth a try though.
