Guitar Hero came up with the concept first, but Rock Band made it better (whole band, fans, reputation, etc.). Also, The Beatles Rock Band is awesome. So I say Rock Band.
well i decided to buy guitar hero 3, and once i beat every song (even fire and flames) i wanted to get world tour. Then i just ended up buying guitar hero 5 as well.. For song choice, well rock band 2 has infinite song list.. You have to buy songs, but atm there are almost or over 1000 dlc songs to choose from. Not only that but they gave every music company free software enabling them to put any music they want onto rock band. So lately its been on a massive overload with music haha...
But with this, i prefer rock band 2. The drums = 10x harder (guitar hero just uses to much yellow notes, its like all the time your hitting the yellow note), and the controller is way btr. Guitar hero tried to incorprate the high note tapping through solo's, but it ended up sucking massively. Its an impressive idea if it worked, but it doesn't at all..
So i do like them both, but i like rock band 2 alot btr.
As for this whole thing about who had the original idea... Well who remembers amplitude.. That old school game for the ps2. That was buy harmonix, who made the idea of having music in a game. You'd switch over between guitar, bass, drums, sax, singing, etc... and try and hit all the notes in one line. This of course was all through one analog conroller but a very good start on this genre of gaming. Then came Guitar Hero. A joint effort between harmonix and neversoft productions. After the third guitar hero, harmonix wanted to go with a full band because they wanted to increase the gameplay. Neversoft didn't want this so they both split. Rock band came out with the 4 player game, and guitar hero's sales started to slide. The only way for them to get back into the gaming was to have a full band as well... Guitar hero only ended up copying what the individuality of harmonix. There was no copying with rock band 2 as harmonix was a part of guitar hero, and in fact did design those guitars.
The drums = 10x harder (guitar hero just uses to much yellow notes, its like all the time your hitting the yellow note), and the controller is way btr.
It may be better, but the quality is probably nowhere near as good as guitar hero.

well true for the rock band 1 set... The new sets are designed pretty much the same as the guitar hero's one.. So there about the same....
But guitar hero's is no where near close to being as good as rock band's premium drum set.. Mostly because its a real electronic drum set that will not break no matter how hard you hit your drum sticks on it. Plus it has 3 cymbols you can attach (that actually look like cymbols) and you can attach 2 bass pedals to this one. As well you can plug it in to a computer and record sounds and change the sounds of your drum set if you want to make your own music.. So yea its a real drum set that can also be used as a drum set for rock band 2 (designed by a real electronic drum making company). So in this case rock band beats guitar hero's drum set
both have their strengths Rock Band with its many songs and focuses on multiplayer GH with its graphics and focus on guitar if i had to choose, i would pick GH 1st one, only one.
Well considering the fact that ROCK BAND is a total rip-off of GUITAR HERO , I'm gonna have to go with GUITAR HERO . But there are too many games , what's next , GUITAR HERO KORN ?
GH... Is what i prefer cause the songs are cool the guitars i think better... but the drums are the worst... i prefer Rock band's drums... So i vote for GH!!
