Depends on the type of thing that scares you the most. In my mind the horror category is really 3 subgenres, Supernatral, Realistic (Ones that include people as killers, they might not be realistic though), and Zombie. For Supernatral i think the ring was good For Realistic id say the strangers For Zombie I cant think of any that really scared me
I love being scared but I've watched so many that they don't scare me much but yesterday I watched Halloween (Uncut edition) pitch black in my room in the middle of the night and I was crapping my pants......... Ooh and Nightmare on elms street(Freddy)was pretty scary too!!!
You know, there are movies which are scary, but only if you use the loosest sense of the word "scary". Most, in my opinion are just freaky and uncanny. Like The Ring and 1408. If you think about it, they're not really SCARY, just a little creepy. I've never seen a movie where I screamed, or had to walk away.
There are a couple really cool things you can do: 1)Watch a really old scary movie. I mean REEEEEEEEALLY old. You'll actually laugh! I saw this one movie called Vampyre... it was a Dutch or Welsh movie. anyways, this was when they had just figured out how to put sound on TV. The sad thing was, the movie wasn't even about a vampire. It was about shadows dancing on a wall, and the grim reaper (which in that movie was actually a really old man with no mouth carrying a sickle). 2)This is cool. In The Ring, it's creepy to pause it on the rotted faces of the people killed by the girl. See, when you see their faces in the movie, it's not that scary, because it only happens for a split second, so your mind can't fully register what it's seeing. But when you pause it, it really hits you. Try it...
