P51, after the RAF sorted out the engine. The Hurricane. Much easier to produce and repair than the Spitfire and was a very stable gun platform. It won the Battle of Britain.
Hey, here's a neat idea. Instead of making a thread for every single aspect of WWII, how about making ONE thread about ALL of WWII. Wouldn't that be cool?

The Hawker Hurricane bcause it got 55% of the kills in the Battle of Britain (compared to 33% for the Spitfire). Though generally used against bombers (and the spitfires against fighters) Sergeant Josef Frantisek still managerd to down 9 Me 109's during the battles in a hurricane. Hurricanes used fabric so they could be repaired quicker thatn th eall metal spitfires and bullets could more easily pass right through them. There are even acounts of hurricanes flying back to base with "large parts of wing missing".
The P-51D Mustang is exposed to be a lot of fun to fly, many modern pilots including fighter pilots always want to try it out. The Hurricane and Spitfire are both good planes, and the Corsair is also a good aircraft, don't see much about it though I did see one once. The bombers where also pretty good, I remember one, old 666 I think, that shot down several Jappanesse planes by itself. Hard to think of a bomber being engaged in a dogfight, but it was a different, more exciting era of aerial combat.
