Actually,yeah, she was a maiden. She kind of liked the guy from afar and was actually considering revoking her vows of being a maiden, but Apollo kind of took it in his own hands. Lol.

Well, it was Apollo, but you've got the second part wrong.
It was the reason he became a god, and Hermes was forgiven and went unpunished because he then invented the lyre.

Yeah...Hermes killed them, but then he made the lyre with their bodies so Apollo forgave him.
