Science says that they don't exist while on the other hand religion says they do exist. At the same time they both do and don't exist. In religion they say that when you die you either go to hell or heaven.
If you go to hell then supposevly you will suffer eternal torment. If you go to heaven supposevly you'll find peace, happiness, joy, etc. Before I continue just think of this "How long is eternity?" Eternity means forever in this case. Personally I find it a bit harsh to send someone to hell for eternity just for killing someone. I'd think it should be like a 1,000 to maybe a 1,000,000 years but not eternity. Even if it is for millions of years you'd get used to all the torment after a while.
When people talk about how when you die you'd go to heaven and find peace, happiness, joy, etc. But they never said how long for or if it was for eternity. I mean everyone here would be sick of it all after awhile and if you say that you wouldn't be then try saying that after like 1,000 to maybe 10,000 years of doing it. After hundreds, thousands, maybe even tens of thousands years you would've done everything you could've ever wanted to do. After you get sick of it all heaven will start to be hell for you. And I'll say this again no one ever said how long you stay in heaven whether it is for a 1,000 or maybe a 1,000,000 years or if it is for eternity. If it was for eternity then heaven would become hell for you as I have explained already.
Others say that heaven and hell don't exist and instead when you die your soul just sits in emptiness. To explain what the emptiness looks like the is that there's nothing other than yourself in it, everything around you is black, everything around you is dark, it never ends so you could run for billions of years straight and it'd never end, and that your soul just sits there for eternity. An example of what'd it feel like is like when your asleep and dreaming. This theory/belief can be considered hell.
Just living can be both heaven and hell. At times you can find both happiness and despair. So even if you don't go to heaven or hell when you die you can still experience both of them by just living which would both prove heaven and hell to be true and false (real and not real).
To summarize everything that I have just said would be that heaven and hell at the same time does and doesn't exist.
Besides even if you go to heaven or hell when you die we'd have no way of knowing.
What I have just said is the only true answer, the only real answer, the only logical answer, the only reasonable answer, and the best answer. It is the only logical, real, truest, and the most reasonable best answer we will ever get.
If anyone religious or not religious here thinks that what I have just said is full of BS then I dare you to prove me wrong I really would like to see you prove me wrong.
Just think of everything I have just said. I mean really think of this don't do that BS stuff and think of it for 5 seconds or less and then answer and say that this is full of SH*T. I mean really think of it spend weeks, months, maybe even a year if you really feel like it.

If you actually do think of it then it should be clear that this is the only logical answer.
Scientifically they do exist(if you believe in metaphysics). If there are countless paralell universes in which you could have blinked now or in 0.001 seconds, and every choice could have been different, then there is a universe where everyone did and does good, and an opposite universe, in which evryone chooses the bad choice. That would be Heaven and Hell.
However, The Heaven and Hell that christianity explains is like fractalman described. But, you cannot prove it, nor deny it. It cannot be debunked. I am a Christian and I believe in the biblical heaven and hell, but that is my personal choice, as it is not to believe in anything for atheists.
I think in greek mythology they had 3 places you could end up , one similar to hell for evil,one like heaven for heros and one for normal ppl, which was a mountainous foggy place where you wondered alone forever, now its all myths...at one time ppl believed this

i do think it does exsist,but... why do you wonder whether heaven and hell exist,whether or not it does,none of us have seen it,other than my bro(in his dreams,though),we wonder whether it exists because it is all over our lives,i mean,if no one tells you about it,you would never think of it(unless you're the person that seen it,or made it up...),and in the medeveil times,i say "india" to them,they say "idiot" to me...and i go china and say "british",they put me in a mental hospice(if theres one),but since many people say/claim/believe that it exists,then we better believe it as well,and if you're the really playsafe type,convert into every religion in the world,just in case...
being in singapore,the multi racial country,i used to believe that all religions are true,yes,and i thought,it's not that dumb,religious leaders fight cos(most likely,i never said it was real) they want more followers,either that or their under threat by something,but will god/buddha/ zeus/some chinese god/any other god except for any god of war want followers that are won through blood stainted hands,war,forcing,and political mind tricks?i dont think so,or heaven might be under attack by a chinese fleet,and heaven will lose it's reputation as a "aradise" and think of this,humans are much less inferior than gods,and so they must be smarter than us(sorry obama),and yet "represent" different races,or might have moved on to the next stage of having a "supreme ruler".dont you think they would be able to live in peace,compared to (most of)us dodos(hey!im offending myself too!!!)
God and the devil has nothing to do with whether heaven or hell exist. The reason why god and the devil even have any relation to heaven and hell was to make people believe (in ways) that heaven and hell were more like kingdoms (or what ever they were called back then). This was told when all the religions (all the ones that believed in heaven and hell and also believed in god and the devil to be intertwined with heaven and hell) (I don't want to name them all) first started spreading which took place around the time when the romans first accepted religion to when it then spread over all of those other countries that had been conquered by the romans and forced into believing in what ever religion the romans had. God was to be considered as the king, ruler, or absolute athority when discussing god and heaven. The devil was to be considered as the king, ruler, or absolute authority when discussing the devil and hell. Okay not really discussing but more of which was believed when intertwined. This was all believed back in the roman days and not in current days. Now in current times we don't considered god to be the king of heaven and the devil to be the king of hell.
