I made this post so people can put their tactic in any colony mode.

And, apparently you made this post because you didn't look through all the other threads about Colony strategies and tactics.

Hmph, there isn't a TACTIC thread around...

Meh, there really is only one tactic you need to learn, which is hit and run...

Basically, you take something with a larger range/speed than your enemy, and shoot, fall back, shoot, fall back, etc. First, you fall them back into a line, then CHARGE them at the enemy...once they get in range, hold, shoot once, then fall back, when their attack is cooled down, hold, then fall back again. Repeat until they die/they run away/you run out of room to fall back.

Also, when you're attacking...use CHARGE, especially when doing hit and run instead of ADVANCE, because charge-->hold = they stay in a wal, with advance they stagger. In a wall, units have concentrated fire (think mutalisk stack from SC), but are easily killed by splash. Also, in advance, they have a slower rate of fire because they will constantly be inching forwards...sometimes into the enemy's range.

A unit on hold position has a larger range than a unit on advance.

Normally, in a battle between 1 sakata MKII and 1 phantom, they will kill each other and tie...using the hit and run method lets you get in free shots, and kill the phantom without dieing.

Uhh, tactics in Colony is basically micro.

D: Firetail you ninja'd me when I was typing that...

Tactic = Individual units, what to do in a battle, micro
Strategy = The war in general, what to do for the entire field, macro

There's a difference, I've only seen strategy threads...

Tactic + Strategy = win
Therefore, tactic = strategy = win.
Therefore, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Ok, i like the waiting tactic a lot. its amusing.

You advance your forces(this works best in earthquake)to a little after the halfway spot on the map. Or when the enemy makes a unit, your units can fire at it. Hold your unit at that spot for a while, if you dont have enough units you might need to make some more.

Oh, that's called a blockade.

Uhh, sometimes it may be possible to break through a land blockade with autoromans and hovers, air blockades...sakatas, but that only happens in dogfight so...no chance =/

If the blockade is small, yes, if the blockade is big, no, because they can replace blocked units.

lalala12, play?

Defencive gameplay:
1)be fascists
2)build bank
3)build armory
4)build forge
4a)DO NOT BUILD SCOUTS, UNLESS YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK
5)upgrade to manufactory
6)build about 5 Sakata MK-IIs
7)build Special Operations.
8)deploy A-27 Pride
9)keep deploying prides
OPTIONAL MOVES:
10)destroy the bank
11)build hospital
12)upgrade to war sanctum(optional)
13)keep deploying meditecs

You'll get owned by hovers.

I agree. Building spec ops is a waste. Prides are simply too expensive to logisitically employ without multiple special operations buildings and a communist government.

You're better served by either making an outpost and switching armory to manpower production or just making romans (since the only units one needs as a forger is phantom, sakata MK-II, and something to kill opponent's sakata MK-II).

Equally, making a hospital/war sanctum while using forge is a waste in general because your troops fall in one of three categories: regenerate health (sakata), don't get health from medics (air units), or expendable (romans).

I'd really like to hear the strategies/builds folks use for 1v1.

Here's my strategy it's simple: Build bank, build forge/outpost build armoy, send out some troops for an early advantage, build hospital, generator, win. Short and sweet.

Erm....well this is a tactics thread, not a strategy thread...

*Points to some other random strategy threads* Strategy is *that* way...

1v1 I normally go....Armory--forge--manufactory--armory--outpost--barracks, pump sakatas and chronites or snipers depending on the situation. (Even though this is a strategy)
...

No wait, outpost before 2nd armory...

Yah pretty much most people do the same thing after they get lots of gaming experience in it.
