First:Very first military branch of the United States Second:Rangers... Third:WestPoint Fourth:No Marine Presidents but Alot of Army Presidents Fifth:Forgot,George Washington was a grunt, not a jarhead. Sixth:Mogadishu(marines got pulled out,Delta and Rangers sent in)
For any other fellow grunts add in some reasons, and jarheads are welcome to flame their butts off =D
I find threads like this of no use. But I will give my comment to it.
I vote neither, I served in military before, and you know what? Both orginizations deserve Americans respect. I served in Dominican Republics armed forces, and I had to go to a mental instituion after for PTSD.
I don't know if people realize this, But a Army soldier has to spend close to a year and 7 months in active duty. That can make a man go insane. A marine ussually spends 7 months or so, before he is pulled out.
Now I have respect for both companies, but the USA Army has a tougher time. But respect your military. You dont have to like them, but respect the fact that they will die for their nation. Respect the fact that even if they went in a impossible situatuion, they would defend you, and even if they go against Insurgents in Afghanistan, which I say that is a pointless war, and they go against insurgents who have foguht their entire lives, have far mroe experience then themselves, and are used to the inhospitable terrain there, you better respect your soldiers for it. Because there is too many men and women who are dying or losing their minds now thanks to that useless war. So stop making these threads that support one or the other, and I dont mean to be a troll, but I am tired of it. Neither one is better, both have served with toil, sweat, grime and blood on their backs.
ComradeWolf wants a merit badly (see his comment in page2)
So what. We all want merits. He's right. I've seen so many of my military friend's families torn apart by what their parents did for our country. We (As their children) are proud of what they've done. I have the highest respect for all branches of the armed forces.
ComradeWolf's response is what i was thinking. Though, debate away about which video game army is better.
P.S. I am planning to join the Army once im eighteen, though people say it messes you up i'm joining anyways. The sense of high honor, getting braver, and also being physically fit is of interest to me. I will never have my thirst quenched for total personal growth though... But im still not 100% sure(im only 14).
you cant say being a marine is better than being in the army or vice versa. being either would be an honor and both are very important to keeping our country safe
