Why did saw 6 get a 74% approval rating? Excuse my wall of text, but it must be said.
Saw 1: This movie was creepy and mysterious. It was scary in the sense that you KNEW Jigsaw's threats would be carried out (or assumed, anyway). The traps were well-thought out, painful, and the consequences applied to most people, save Amanda, of course. The people in the Jigsaw traps were not completely retarded. They knew they had to do something, and simply failed at it. Dr. Gordon came very close to succeeding, and he analyzed the situation brilliantly. Very dramatic surprise ending in my opinion.
Saw 2: This movie was decent. It's hard to follow up a movie like Saw but they did what they could. Jigsaw's new game was unique in that everyone had a chance to survive. Adam or Dr. Gordon had to die (or both) in the first one, but everyone had to work together. The people did some stupid things and ignored Jigsaw, but in realistic ways. The twist at the end was very cool, and fit well into Jigsaw's game. The morals being taught in the movie made sense, much like the first one.
Saw 3: This was, until Saw 6, the worst movie I'd seen in my life. First of all, Amanda started creating traps to victimize people even though she passed a test and was better for it. I didn't understand the motivation. Then comes Jeff, the man who can't forgive a freezing woman for not testifying against a murderer. Jeff waited too long, even though he had time beforehand to think his decision through. Lynn's game was unfair, because she never had a chance to save HERSELF. It depended on Amanda's decision. These people who made mistakes and repented for them, in Jeff's game, didn't get to save themselves, but Jeff got to decide. That was completely unfair, and didn't fit in with Jigsaw's motive.
Saw 4: This movie was okay. I did like Officer Rigg, but his game was unfair. How is trying to save people a vice? Once again, Jigsaw puts people in traps that don't get to decide their own fate (except the ra.pist). Then we have Agent Straum randomly put in, who keeps screaming at Jill Tuck even though she doesn't have answers for him. The flashbacks were good, especially the Cecil trap. Making Hoffman an accomplice was really dumb. They managed to work it in a little in Saw 5, but I'm still disappointed.
Also, did anyone else notice how they kept switching back and forth between Jigsaw trap scenes and office scenes? Very annoying and over-dramatized.
Saw 5: Agent Straum trailing Hoffman was the only thing that made this movie okay. The rest of it was awful. "Your instincts tell you to do one thing. I implore you to do the opposite." "We have to kill each other?!" And so they do.
That one girl was rather annoying when she killed that person in the bathtub. "I didn't trust her." They didn't know each other, and it was survival of the fittest anyway! How could she not trust her? Then later, "What's in this room?" "Our next nightmare." That was a stupid, stupid line.
The Straum completely ignores the tape, even though Jigsaw never lies, and gets himself killed. I saw that coming.
Saw 6: Where do I begin? For starters, Jigsaw targets an insurance company. But insurance companies can't make a profit if they don't take on clients that won't need a lot of surgeries. If they don't make a profit, they can't stay in business, and nobody is helped. Besides, it's a company; no one man is responsible for everything bad that happens. And if Williams didn't deny coverage, he'd be fired, and somebody else would.
All of Jigsaw's traps in this movie were moronic. The janitor at the beginning never had a chance, and Jigsaw knew that. He basically murdered him. Then, Williams has to chose between one woman and one man. That's not was his formula does. It decides whether or not to pay for medical operations, with is different than life or death.
His next test is even stupider, as the girl below has absolutely no time to save herself. And what is Jigsaw testing of Williams in this one?
The carousel was very stupid. Two can live, but four will die? And what does he learn, other than how great of an engineer Jigsaw is? The acting was awful on the carousel. "I'm pregnant!" "No, she's lying. She's f*cking lying!"
The worst line was, "When you're killing me you LOOK at me."
Wow.
Finally, as he approaches the end, he doesn't get to save his own life, even though he won the game. Someone else does. The son basically committed 2nd degree murder, as there was no penalty mentioned for letting Williams live. And why do they believe they're saving lives by doing this? A company doesn't shut down because it lost workers.
Jill Tuck was a stupid and obvious accomplice to pick. They could've done better. Hoffman, meanwhile, BSed his way through being trailed by everyone by killing them all. It was truly pathetic how hastily he acted. And his trap at the end was very stupid. He didn't even get a tape, and there's no way he'd know what to do if he didn't know about the trap beforehand, which he didn't.
I ask again: Why did Saw 6 get a 74% approval rating?
