As people know, AG is getting more and more users every day. As I speak, there are over 330,000 users right now. And as the list grows, it becomes harder and harder to find other users you haven't talked in a while. Therefore I think my suggestion could help:
I'm thinking of a special page on AG (Users only), that contains a very long list of users that are active and want to be noticed by others. It should be in alphabetical order, and a link from each name to the user page.
I think it would help because as I myself have figures out, old friends tend to leave, and all of a sudden you have no one to talk to. The directory could solve that: Not only an alphabetical order, but pages devoted to a specific topic with a list of interested users. So if you wanted to speak astronomy, you could find people who talk it. Sound good?
Submissions could either be a form a the bottom of the page, or a thread in the Support and Suggestion.
This could, of course, be shrunken to a thread, but it would be by far more ineffective. And as all threads, it will die out. If it became a page on AG though, it would live forever or at least a very long time.
Any comments? Arguing and agreeing is fine. I really want (And need) feedback for this.
It's a good idea, but it is a lot of work for everyone involved with the site. Another thing is that it would be hard to track down every new user everyday. So this is what I think. Set up that page, but make it so that you only have to be listed if you want to by submitting your name on the page. It would be less work for everyone involved in the making of it, so it probably would probably be more likely to go through than having every person on AG listed
It's an excellent idea, but it would create tons of lag, as it would have to be updated so frequently. And you don't want the site to be slower, do you?

It could be updated monthly. And I think people seem to be thinking that this function is like A Flash app or Java, but it's not:
It would simply be HTML, and all it would be is a long list of users and links to their Profile. It gets updated by hand, so unless text files will make AG lag, it shouldn't happen.

That search is exactly like mine!! It even has the same title. And the same hits as mine.
Anyway, it doesn't exactly help you find new users to talk, and comments get in the way.

I admit not saying it clearly, but obviously, if you want to be part of the list, you'd have to fill in the form. Therefore, you want to be part of the list.
