The universe defeats both the pragmatic and the romantic. Because the mind is only finite, it cannot truly grasp the universe for it is infinite. Like the way a living brain cannot conceive of a non living brain (although it may think it can) the finite cannot grasp the infinite. Imagine how close other universes may truly be. For the fish who dwells in the pond, that is his universe. Then what happens when he is yanked through the silvery limits of existence and into a new universe, one where the air drowns him and the light is blue madness? Where huge bipeds with no gills stuff him in a box with weeds to die. Or what about a desert, with its almost infinitude of grains of sand. Imagine a universe encapsulated within each grain of sand, and with a kick of your foot you send a billion eternities flying. Size, size is the universes greatest phenomenon. Size encompasses life, for size defeats us. Go down to a subatomic level and go far enough that there are leagues and gulf sized spaces between these particles, and imagine that these spaces are like the infinite space of the universe itself. What if our universe was just one subatomic particle of an infinitude of sub atomic particles? You see, size truly defeats us. And imagine God and his size, does God see the sparrow fall when it is merely a speck of disconnected hydrogen floating through space? What about the greater beings who view our universe as the size of a sub atomic particle, and imagine more life larger than that. Imagine zooming in with a microscope to peer at the tip of a pencil, would could magnify it to the point where they would realize that the tip of the pencil is not solid, but a whirling formation of atoms and subatomic particles. And the idea of matter, can the finite mind conceive of yet another infinite source of life? It truly can't. Matter is a mere name given to one thing that is everything, a paradox in the true sense of the word.
If, theoretically speaking, you came to the end of the universe, would you find a sign saying "The End." Or would you find something hard, like the inside of an egg shell, and poke your way through the shell of existence and into a new universe.
