For those of you that don't what this is... Affirmative action- Programs designed to increase minority participation in some institution by taking positive steps to appoint more minority group members.
I think America needs to get rid Affirmative action. One, it was made to say sorry in a way for the years of discrimination agianst women and minorities. To me I think America has made up for it because we have a black president and women that are CEOs of large companies. Two, companies may be forced to hire people that are less qualified than the other candidates but the less qualified person fell into a manority group. Three, Affirmative action also applies in college when the college is selecting people to be accepted in a certain program.(programs like med school) Four, no one should care if a company has people from all the same gender or race working there, it should be based on who are the best qualified people for the job.

It is bad. The position should be given to the most qualified for the position.
Some will tell you the minorities will feel that position unnatainable and therefore not strive for it. Resulting in them having the potential for this position but never utilizing it.
But that can all be counteracted with 2 things you mommy said to you when you were a kid:
there's a first for everything, and you can be whatever you want as long as you set your mind to it.
The reason there aren't as many female politicians, is because it takes a lot of time. Time many women spend having and caring for children.
In the end the female is less likely to have a successful career because of her gender. But is that so wrong? It is the way our biology dictates it to be...
Affirmative action is a bad thing, basically if a white man and a black man apply for a job and they are both exactly equally qualified, by law the job goes to the black man. That's blatant rascim right there. Should really be up to the employeer, maybe give each one a chance or see who you'd rather work with every day.
