I don't plan on it. I've decided to irrationally hate Mass Effect as a series because it was hyped as having a rich and detailed world and wonderful story. In reality, the world of Mass Effect was not really good or deep. It was about as good as the sci fi worlds dreamed up by a twelve year old boy IE the same as every other sci fi story to exist, ever. It does not break the mold, or stand out from the crowd in anyway, being filled with cliches and crappy writing (element zero!) to the point where I think Bioware was just screwing with us.
The plot looked, smelled and felt like dog poop on a brisk fall day.

When game critics claimed that video game stories were becoming as good as books and movies as well as having unique narratives that could only be experienced through interactive media, they meant that video games were starting to catch up to the seedy under belly - only the most B-rate plot and characters - of other media, now starting to have coherent narrative, consistent worlds and characters at all.

Now, it could seem like I'm saying Mass Effect is good in many ways if you quote me out of context, so I'll say one thing now: All I said about starting to catch up to other media hardly applies to Mass Effect. It's starting to catch up to adolecent boys in terms of world building and story telling. I will not "take it for what it is" because I refuse to praise something for not being too bad.

Sure, Mass Effect is a push in the right direction, but it's just that: A push. Not a great evolution, just a push. It shouldn't be called a wonderful evolution of story telling. it should be called what it is: Star Wars lite in the form of a video game.

Now that I have four paragraphs explaining exactly why I will never buy Mass Effect 2, let me ask:

For sure. I own every Bioware game to date. why stop now

Indeed. If you are looking for detail and richness supposedly Dragon Age is stellar in that department. 70+ hrs gameplay if you delve into it according to a review I read. Definitely a game for me.

As for Mass Effect 2, I'm not so sure. Whilst I was very disappointed with the first game, it did have so much potential. I'll probably rent it to see if it has improved upon the original before I make my decision.
