Sorry it did not go through but it was a fact saying that a person has a 25 precent more chance of being shot in Washington DC than if they were a soldier in Iraq.

Why am I not at all surprised?

Washington D.C. is the murder capital of America. They have more murders than the hot zone in Baghdad has every day. Well, some days. But still.

And there's a double murder everyday here in Houston, yet they still outrank us.

That 60 per 100,000 given above is per month. According to Forbes Magazine the most murderous city of 2006 is Detroit with 418 murders. But that comes out to less than 4 murders per 100,000 residents per month.

reports that for 2007 DC had only 32 homicides per 100,000 residents for the entire year. That's less than 3 per 100,000 per month.

Iraq: 60 / 100,000
Detroit: 4 / 100,000
DC: 3 / 100,000

Do the Math.

Iraq: 60 / 100,000

Is this rate only for american soldiers?
