I played for 4 years. You know why I stopped? I realized how bad of a game it was, and that I was just wasting time. What can I say? Nothing appeals to me about that game. Other MMOs are so much better it isn't even funny. Here are some comparisons

In runescape, you dont have any special melee skills, just diffirent styles of attacking. Other MMOs(WoW, LotRO, DDO) You have numerous melee skills, and even more variety based on the type of character you chose.

Runescape is based on java, which was never intended to make an online game. Whereas, other MMOs aren't limited to what kind of software they can use since they aren't browser based. The user directly gets the files to their computer, and they then launch the game, with much less loading times than Runescape.

Runescapes graphics are out dated. Sure they got so called "HD" graphics, but it still pales in comparison to newer MMOs, and even older ones like Final Fantasy XI.

Simply put, java isn't capable of making a quality MMO. It just doesn't have the right components.

I like it, and have played it 1.5 years. It's a good game, I reviewed it on gamespot. You can find my review if you search Kervik. I was quite proud of it.

still, you have a variety of skill bases of which you can grow from, and i never asked why you didn't enjoy your experience. I asked who had played, maybe to have someone to talk with, i dont care about graphics.

I play more for the constant barrage of "HEY!"'s you can get from people who wont judge on appearance, race, gender, or on your overall personal qualities.

Its a game that originates from the UK but has expanded worldwide and only seems to grow, which must say that atleast a few (million) people must enjoy the game.

But, i would have to agree with you, it does lack "good" graphics and a wide based melee system but it makes up for it in a wide range of weaponry, npc's and constant updates to advance its gameplay.
to rate this game id give it a 7.5 give or take.

Yeah, it can get really monotonous. There's so much focus into leveling up skills that you just have to do the same motions (mining, woodcutting, fishing, etc) over and over and over. If you're the kind of person that loves to level up, then it's a decent game.

It's also one of the best free MMOs out there that doesn't require any downloading. That's pretty impressive. I've played some free MMOs that don't need a download...amazingly, they made Runescape look like a masterpiece.

I mean yeah, there are definitely better games out there...but you have to consider the fact that the really good games (WoW, LotRO, EVE) aren't Java based, so they have so much more potential and a lot more tools to work with. Plus, most require a hefty download and take money out of our pockets every month.
