Ok, so most of us know them, right? A family with 18 kids, and the Mom's not done yet.
Their religion prohibits them to use birth control. But should they follow this? Why give a child so little attention, when the parent has to deal with 17 other kids? Should they use birth control? And why do we make celebrities of theses people?
Their religion prohibits them to use birth control.
That's what's wrong with them. They let religion control their lives, instead of making their own logical decisions themselves. That's one of the biggest problems with religion these days; it's just not modern enough for the times.
I think they are going to end up with 20!!! I am with LtKilla on this one. Sure it is conversational to have that large of a family, but as they can financially support themselves better than most average sized families, I do think they we should criticize them. Think about their TV rival John & Kate plus 8.... now, which kids will grow up in a better environment?? Obviously the Duggars! A lot of people decided to do/not do things based on religion, such as waiting for sex until marriage or getting an abortion. Society seems to accept people's various views as ok there, so why should they judge this family that happens to just be a more extreme case than the previous ones I mention??
I don't see what is wrong with them? Sure, I don't agree with their views, and I sure as heck don't want to have that many kids. But that doesn't mean that what they are doing is wrong, just because it is different.
Your argument is that with so many children, they probably get very little attention. In fact, I think with this family, they might actually get more attention. The fact is, the parents are extremely involved in their children's lives. The mother doesn't work, and is dedicated to raising her kids. Plus, with such a wide age range, there are always older kids around to help take care of the younger ones. Plus, there is never a shortage of people to play with, and I am sure they never have a dull moment. 18 kids is a lot, but they seem to take care of them all very well.
The fact is, although you may disagree with their lifestyle, there is no question that the mother is absolutely amazing. Not many people would be capable of raising and home schooling 18 children at once. If anything, I think that she should be applauded for how she puts her children first and puts the effort into making sure that they are well taught and taken care of.
Groucho Marx had a great line about this sort of thing.
He was hosting the game show "You Bet Your Life". One of the contestants was on and as was normal, Groucho struck up a conversation with her. As it turns out she had 10 kids. Groucho mentioned how that was quite a few and asked why she had so many.
She said, "I love my husband".
To which Groucho replied, "Well, I love my cigar, but I take it out of my mouth every once in a while."
Great line, but unfortunately it was too risque back then and was omitted from the broadcast.
I am with LtKilla and TrayRulz yea hthey got 18 kids but i mean theyve managed ot support them and keep their family together and happy and if they can continue to do that then so be it
