Maybe its because of the lack of punctuation?

It's not because the moderators don't like you, David. And Rate The Above User's Profile was not locked because there was spam, it was locked because it was a repeat of another thread. Everyone's threads get locked, and usually for good reason. So don't complain.

Oh, how I wish...but if threads were locked because of lack of punctuation, there would be no threads(except for a select few). And if that were the case, even that comment would be deleted; it needs an apostrophe. Lol.
Sorry for double post.

No, but it was practically the exact same thing. You could've just replied to the old one and brought it back.
Umm...what are you talking about? "I beat you have probly done it to"?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand that last sentence. If you could just make an effort to spell those things correctly? Please?

Okay, first, what are some of the threads you've made that have gotton locked. Second, no, I don't mind my thread getting locked, because the only thread i've had locked was one that was a repeat that I hadn't noticed because it was on page 4 of the topics and I thought it wouldn't matter because it had been a week or so since anyone had posted on it.

As already mentioned, repeated threads get locked simply because it is annoying to have a bunch of the same material flying around (just look at the video games section). When it comes to long threads about one specific thing, make it rate the user/profile above or homosexuality, it is often easier to revive the thread with a relevant post instead of making a new one that most likely would end up not only having a repeated topic but a repeated content because people usually have their own opinions and they do not care how many times to say "Homosexuals go to hell", especially not when they get AP for it.
Now, you may think that it is not a problem to have repeated threads, but locking those threads (and redirecting to the original/current thread) is a way of keeping the forums clean, just like locking threads for spam, deleting spam and flaming and telling people to respect the rules are.

No, the mods do not hate you, if they do, it would be immoral of them to pick on you, so please do not think so. It often creates bigger problems when users start to feel paranoid about the mods, as they either start making threads like this or simply disrespect the mods for what they do, because they seem to pick on you (when in fact they are picking on anyone who messes up the rules).

To end it off: No, I cannot recall my threads being locked, usually they die quickly instead because the OP often is pretty much the length similar to this post. And I tell you, it is far worse a feeling that your threads die because people does not care to make more than a tiny reply on things (preferably 8 words max) than having your thread locked because there was already one for that. Because, in the latter case, you still get to continue the thread topic...

i think that if you get a forum locked you should be told why it got locked and if its cause there is a forum already live about it then you should get a link to that forum.

1. Get a webserver/domain
2. Install a forum
3. Use your forum without any other supervision
4. Lock other peoples threads

D'oh!
That's exactly what happens.
Well, except for when my Philosoraptor Club got locked.
But still.

Moat, usually club threads get locked because they are clubs. Which is, well, pretty much a reason not to say a thing, I guess.
As mentioned in the thread suggesting that the reason should be posted: Most mods do it, if they don't it is often obvious why it had been locked.
Usually, there is a few reasons for locking a thread:
It will lead to spam.
It is spam.
It is a thread made a thousand times.
It is placed in the wrong section, and there is a thread about it in the appropriate section.
It is a duplicate.
It is a troll thread.
It invites to trolling/flaming.
It is a club (and one without a given purpose that cannot be held somewhere else)
The thread is largely off topic.
The thread is an advertisement.
The OP asks to get the thread locked because they have made a better, more clear version.
The OP asks to get the thread locked because it has gone off the rail.
A combination of two or more of the above.

I think AG would get very chaotic if we did not lock repeat threads. It would be really hard to have all the thoughts or opinions together with various threads on the same topic. Don't think the mods don't like you, as I am sure they understand that you might not have known there was an original thread/had good intentions. I think that it is usually apparent why a thread was locked, but none the less if you disagree and truly believe that your thread should be reopened, you can always talk to an admin. I am sure they can explain why your thread should/should not remain open.

I think the moderators should tell you why your thread got locked instead of just locking it. They should note what is wrong with it.
